Fytrobert, Good question..... Jesus is not requiring a specfic name but rather "a specific acknowledgement." In order to have reseptive prayers basically, there are two requirments. One, what John 14:14 is seeking is "do you believe Jesus is the Son of God, the One and only?" And the One and only direct link to God the Father? Two, "Whatever we ask must be according to His will and purpose, not necessarily ours." Question answered? InGodITrust |

Hi Rick, Thanks for your comments. In John 14:14Jesus has made one condition and one commitment: CONDITION:All requests must be made in His name. COMMITMENT:He will do what we ask only when our requests comply with His condition. Further thoughts on this matter will be appreciated. Thanks again; FytRobert |

Scripture ... Context ... John 14:9-25 ........... God's day to you, FytRobert, There is more to the condition, read the context. Some take this verse out of context to say He will grant whatever we ask in His name. BUT, the context shows - 09-11 Believe that Jesus is one with the Father - 10-12 It is to accomplish great works than Jesus, NOT for anything else - 13 The result is so that the Father may be glorified in the Son - 15 There must be obedience ... so even if we can ask for anything, it must be in line with His plan, not just something we want/ need, or someone else needs.
