1 | Can a person push God too far?? | Luke | kalos | 54970
My question is not: Can you find the *concept* of backsliding in the NT? My question remains: Can you find any form of the *word* backsliding in the NT? |

2 | Can a person push God too far?? | Luke | New Creature | 54978
I believe I already did. "drift" "draw back" and become "lukewarm" amounts to the same thing as backslide does. The result of either one has the same results. Please let me ask you a question. Is it your opinion that Christians living today do not backslide? |

3 | Can a person push God too far?? | Luke | kalos | 54984
No, you did not already answer my question. Let's try it again. My question is not: Can you find the *concept* of backsliding in the NT? My question is not: CAN YOU FIND *SYNONYMS* FOR 'BACKSLIDING' IN THE NT? My question remains: Can you find any form of the *word* backsliding in the NT? Can you find the English word 'backsliding' (b-a-c-k-s-l-i-d-i-n-g) or any of its forms (e.g., backslide, backslidden, backslider) in the NT? I ask you and I tell you: No, you cannot find any form of the word b-a-c-k-s-l-i-d-i-n-g in the NT. ************* Is it my opinion that Christians living today do not backslide? It depends on how you define the word. If by backsliding you mean turning away, turning back, or apostasy, then my answer is: No, Christians (those with genuine saving faith) living today do not backslide. They do not commit apostasy. If someone turns away or turns back, that person is not and never was a Christian to begin with. 1 John 2:19 (ESV) They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. Hebrews 10:39 (ESV) But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. I do not intend to be drawn into an endless discussion of Eternal Security. That subject has been debated to death on the forum. Use Quick Search to look up Eternal Security and related terms. |

4 | Can a person push God too far?? | Luke | New Creature | 54999
I cannot find the word backslide in the NT I also cannot find the words "Trinity" or "rapture" in the Bible. That doesn't mean I don't believe in them. But I still believe that the words "drift" and become "lukewarm" amount to the same thing. Many of the churches of Revelations had become backslidden. That is why the Lord admonished them to do the first works and repent. They had a good start, but became complacent and lukewarm. By making the statement that Christian's backslide, I am not referring to the "Eternal Security" topic. I simply believe that true Christian's have moments and even periods in their walk with the Lord where they become complacent in their faith. Christian's go through dry periods, which might also be referred to as wilderness periods. |

You write: "I simply believe that true Christian's have moments and even periods in their walk with the Lord where they become complacent in their faith." With this statement I agree wholeheartedly. No one could deny that this is so. Grace to you, kalos |
