Dear Miller, I have read your post. If I understand it correctly, "seed of faith" usually involves monetary tithing (please correct me if I am wrong), and here are my understanding in concern with the scriptures you quoted: Luke 6:38 The context of the scripture does not talk about tithing. You can trace back to v30 and onward, it talks about how we should show our mercy and kindness to people. Luke 18:28-30 This also does not address the sense of tithing but Jesus requires his followers to be self-sacrifice (Rom 12:1). 2 Cor 9:6-8 The key verse should be "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver" This is pretty clear that it is not a must to tithe. (but of course a true christian could never use it as an excuse for not tithing). For Mal 3:10, I am sorry I need to dig further to it. However, it seems to me from what you have quoted here are pretty much out of the context, which is not an appropriate method of bible study. I believe that is how the "seed-faith" derived from the WOF that the teachers picking a scripture here and there in support of their movement and their focus on the reward. I believe it is dangerous, too. Believer will be led to focus on the result and their faith will be so much tied to the outcome thus limiting (within their own mind) God's grace as in the result-oriented aspect. Hope I have adressed my points clear. Shalom Azure |

Azure, Perhaps there is a bit of confusion, I was not using these scriptures to show tithing is a necessity. When I talk about seed-faith, I'm not specficially talking about tithing. I am simply talking about those things which are above and beyond my tithe. Let me put it this way, every increase that comes into my home, 10 percent I give to my local church, I believe thats the church God wants me involved in and so I believe thats where he wants me to put that 10 percent. Everything above and beyond the 10 percent, such as money God leads me to sow into other ministries, or outreaches such as work being done in the worn-torn area in Sudan, that is what I believe those scriptures, ( except the Malachi, cause it specificially says tithe ) is referrring to. For instance when Jesus said 'give and it shall be....' I am talking about all seed thats sown, again, I'm not trying to say those scriptures prove that we should tithe, they don't even prove we should give, they just tell us what happens when we do. Hope that cleared some of the confusion up. God Bless |

If that's what happens when you do then what happens when you don't, wouldn’t the antithesis be true and doesn't that go aginst grace? CDBJ |

Dear miller, Frankly, I'm not surprised that you don't seem to understand the concept of grace, otherwise you should be able to answer the question posed by CDBJ with ease. in reference to your argument, Please explain; if the reaping and sowing is for the here and now, then why was (as believed by many) Peter crucified? Why was Paul stoned and left for dead, then imprisoned and eventually relieved of the burden of carrying his own head on his shoulders? Why was Steven, while he was serving, accused and stoned to death for preaching the Word of God? If we are to receive our reward in the here and now, then why do so many Christians get the short end of the stick? Why do so many suffer from starvation and persecution? It's easy to look at the lives of a few and see there the blessings of God, and overlook the sufferings of many. Rom 11:34, For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? 35, Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? God bless John |

Hi John, I haven't answered CDBJ because if you notice what I responded to him, I do not know what he is asking. I want to know what scripture he is wanting to know about the definition of grace in. And yes, repeaing and sowing is for the here and now. Just look at the scriptures I posted, I do not see any reason to think something which Christ said is not for us today, or what Paul said for that matter. So yes, its for the here and now. As for people being persecuted, that happens, Christ said it would happen, so I believe it will happen. Just like he said when you sow you will reap a harvest, I believe that too! God Bless. |
