1 | Why did God test Adam and Eve ? | Genesis | swerv | 153384
Sorry for typos : Final part of questio should read: If so, then why do so many Christians argue so strongly that we are no longer required to be obedient to God's instructions ? Note: This requirement (test of obedience) given by God was prior to there being a sin committed by Adam and Eve. Although sin existed in Satan and angels - Adam and Eve were "sinless". 2 | Why did God test Adam and Eve ? | Genesis | BibleVerse | 153390
That's correct. Surely man had no reason or excuse to forget to whom he belonged, when his very life depended on his obedience to his Creator and Owner. The decision to decide right from wrong, good from bad, was God's (not man's). Proof of this is all around us today and it's easy to relate to Jeremiah's prayer: Jeremiah 10:23 (New Life Version) O Lord, I know that a man's way is not known by himself. It is not in man to lead his own steps. A true Christian submits himself to God's will and his instructions - simple as that. |

3 | Why did God test Adam and Eve ? | Genesis | swerv | 153623
Ok we agree ! So do you think keeping Sunday is doing right or wrong according to the 4th commandment. The Sabbath is the 7th day (Saturday). It is historical that Sunday worship has its origins in paganism. Although, the NT arguement is that it is Christ's resurection day - which all do agree - I see no instruction or new command to keep a different day other than the original day which was sanctified and made holy by God. This day was made for the purposes of resting and therefore we would have the time to spend it worshiping God. What is your view ? In love, Swerv |

4 | Why did God test Adam and Eve ? | Genesis | mark d seyler | 153657
Merv, Just to review what has been said over and over: The Sabbath was a day of rest. (Do you take Saturday off from work? I do.) Worship was to be done every day. The Sabbath was not given as a day of worship, it was given as a day of rest. If we choose to meet for prayer, or preaching, or bagels, on Tuesday morning at 3:30 am, so what? That has nothing to do with whether we keep the Sabbath or not, since the Sabbath was given as a day of rest, not an exclusive day for worship, i.e., "you may only worship/meet/preach/teach/pray/eat bagels on this one day." The idea that Christians meeting for fellowship and teaching replaces the Sabbath day of rest is trying to make two entirely different things equal. Do you think that the only day the Jews went to the synogogue was on Saturday, or that they only offered sacrifices on Saturday? Do you keep the Sabbath? (That means no driving, turning on your stove, turning on a light bulb, an oh so much more?) Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: If you believe that you should keep the Sabbath, then keep it, and keep it unto the Lord. I do not believe I am to keep it, and I do not keep it unto the Lord. We are not to sit in judgment of each other, we are only to be persuaded in our own minds. And I really do concur with Brad - you have gone over and over and over and over and over this same material. Lets give it a permanent Sabbath. Love in Christ, Mark |

5 | Why did God test Adam and Eve ? | Genesis | swerv | 155100
Mark: Yes I follow Gods command to rest from work from sundown Friday until sundown Saturday. I feel it is a great blessing to live in a country that allows one the freedom to worship how and when they feel called. And yes it has caused me to alter my career. I fully agree that every opportunity should be taken to study the Bible and fellowship. If you can do it 7 days a week - then great. But at the same time God clearly instructs us to provide for our family which should revolve around 1st day to 6th day. But of course - if the work schedule permits and it does not take valuable time away from your family - then yes be involved with the Church activities to grow and spread the gospel. Remember - it was the Jews who added law upon law and made the Sabbath a burdensome stone. God never intended it to be that way. It is a blessing ! Not doing work on that day is to be a blessing not a bunch of irretable restrictions that cause us more heachaches. As I have repeated many times - Rom. 14 and Col. 2:16 -- are taken purposely out of context to support doing away with the Sabbath. Rom. 14 -- is all about idol worship and esteemed unclean meat from idol sacrifices and the sabbaths or special days are not referring to the 7th day Sabbath but instead the additional sabbath feasts. Remember the gentiles came into the faith without these Jewish feasts. The Jewish Christians thought the new gentile Christians should keep the Jewish feasts. But remember these feasts are a shaddow of Christs coming to be the perfect sacrifice for sins. Once Christ died on the cross - His death ripped the veil in the sanctuary and thus ending the sacrificial system and all the feats surrounding this system. We no longer sacrifice lambs or keep these feasts - right !!!! Unfortunately, the devil has spread his lies in the mainstream Church to lead people away from following Gods commands. But again this is my belief and I feel I have the scriptures to justify this reasoning. Love in Christ, Swerv |

Merv, Col 2:16 "Then do not let anyone judge you in eating, or in drinking, or in part of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of coming things, but the body is of Christ." The Sabbaths spoken of here by Paul are Sabbaths that he says are "a shadow of coming things, but the body is of Christ." These are not added sabbath feasts as you claim. They are the actual Sabbaths that were given by God to be a shadow of Christ. The context is clear. You are not to judge me concerning the Sabbaths. Not just any ol' sabbath, but the Sabbath that is a shadow of Christ. Now, do you maintain your accusation that I am "purposely taking this passage out of context"? Mark |
