Subject: Why did God test Adam and Eve ? |
Bible Note: Merv, Just to review what has been said over and over: The Sabbath was a day of rest. (Do you take Saturday off from work? I do.) Worship was to be done every day. The Sabbath was not given as a day of worship, it was given as a day of rest. If we choose to meet for prayer, or preaching, or bagels, on Tuesday morning at 3:30 am, so what? That has nothing to do with whether we keep the Sabbath or not, since the Sabbath was given as a day of rest, not an exclusive day for worship, i.e., "you may only worship/meet/preach/teach/pray/eat bagels on this one day." The idea that Christians meeting for fellowship and teaching replaces the Sabbath day of rest is trying to make two entirely different things equal. Do you think that the only day the Jews went to the synogogue was on Saturday, or that they only offered sacrifices on Saturday? Do you keep the Sabbath? (That means no driving, turning on your stove, turning on a light bulb, an oh so much more?) Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: If you believe that you should keep the Sabbath, then keep it, and keep it unto the Lord. I do not believe I am to keep it, and I do not keep it unto the Lord. We are not to sit in judgment of each other, we are only to be persuaded in our own minds. And I really do concur with Brad - you have gone over and over and over and over and over this same material. Lets give it a permanent Sabbath. Love in Christ, Mark |
