Bible Question: Why did God give Adam and Eve the instruction not to eat from the "tree of knowledge" ? Was it not for a test of obedience ? If so, then why do so many Christians argue so stongly that we are no longer reuired to be obedient to God's instuctions ? |
Bible Answer: Genesis 2:15-17 says, Then the LORD God took the man(Adam)and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the LORD God Commanded the man(Adam) saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." (NKJV) It was never a test of Obedience, it was a commandment. God instructed Adam only not to eat from the tree. Then it was up to Adam to give the same instruction to Eve. No matter what we are suppose to always obey God, it's a reqiurement from Him. When people don't obey God there are cosequences that we have to pay for our disobedience. |
