1 | the smallest bible passage | John | skccab | 214593
Shalom Emcee, Welcome to SBF!! I think the smallest Bible verse has to be John 11:35 Jesus wept. (But one that says a great deal about our Master!!) Cheri |

2 | Moabites forbidden and Ruth allowed?? | Deut 23:3 | skccab | 214588
MJH Shalom, Thank you so much!! John and I had come to a conclusion and your addition just added to what we concluded. I like your #3 the best also. (And I'm right with you on your opening statement about the Torah (:o ) Thank you for taking the time and effort for me. I should have figured it out, but there are times my ol' brain just doesn't want to work right - when that happens, it sure is nice to know I have learned brothers and sisters to help out! lol. 3 | Moabites forbidden and Ruth allowed?? | Deut 23:3 | skccab | 214567
Shalom again John, Gotcha!! I think we're on the same page, I was asking only in the context of the "OT bible days". I use the NKJV mostly, and it reads like the ESV you quoted, and I knew I was missing something, just couldn't figure out what :o) Cheri |

4 | Moabites forbidden and Ruth allowed?? | Deut 23:3 | skccab | 214563
Hiya, I was thinking in terms of one of the Ammonites/Moabites joining themselves to Israel thru conversion, so I'm not sure of that, cos it would go against the "will not...forever" statement. But I can agree that the women and girls could be exempt from it, maybe even young boys who were still teachable....???? Good discussion, thank you. Cheri |

5 | Moabites forbidden and Ruth allowed?? | Deut 23:3 | skccab | 214561
Thanks John, That's pretty much what I figured, males only. Like I've told you before, when I begin reading Gill, he's sooo good, I forget why I went there. Thanks for being focused for me.....!!!!! Cheri |

6 | Moabites forbidden and Ruth allowed?? | Not Specified | skccab | 214558
Shalom y'all, I'm missing something here, so I need some help. Deut. 23:3 says that a Moabite will "never" enter into the assembly of God. Wasn't Ruth a Moabitess? How do we reconcile a Moabitess joining Israel (and becoming a part of the lineage of Jesus) to Deut. 23:3? What am I missing? Thanks in advance Cheri |

8 | False Prophet | 2 Cor 11:13 | skccab | 214534
Greetings Brad, Thanks for posting these "predictions." I can be pretty gullible, but even I would not fall for this guy's jokes!! I don't know how he sold himself to so many others, it's amazing!! He's laughable. Cheri |

9 | does God still send prophets? | 2 Cor 11:13 | skccab | 214513
Cowboy, What credentials do you possess that affords you the right and ability to ascertain BradK's witness as being false??? BradK is one, among many here on SBF, that has no credentials to his name but the One Whom he preaches and teaches. If it's in the Scriptures, BradK speaks it, if it is not, you will not hear it from him. Brad, I couldn't be quiet on this one :o) Cheri |

10 | HOW DO WE HELP THOSE IN NEED? | 1 Tim 2:3 | skccab | 214493
Shalom Justme, Have you heard of Time Banking? With the group of people you are already feeding maybe you could get that started? It's a program that sees that everyone has something to offer that someone else needs - i.e., tudoring a child, fixing a roof, cleaning a home, mowing a lawn, etc. As one gives an hour or so of their time and talent to another, they deposit that time for someone else to do something for them that they cannot do for themselves (that is they don't know how to do it or cannot afford to pay for it). I'm looking into getting something like this started where I live. Cheri |

11 | Buddha statue in a house of a christian. | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 214355
Shalom Chumba, Our brother Beja gave you a wonderful answer and I cannot improve upon it. I can only direct you to read further on in Rom 14 to verses 22 and 23. I have always held that if one has to ask if something is wrong, then it is probably wrong for that particular person. It could be that the Spirit is trying to speak to you personally or there could be someone within your "fold" who is being harmed. Either way, the "thing" should be done away with, or you wouldn't be asking about it. :o) Cheri |

12 | What would make this allogory? | 1 John 3:2 | skccab | 214232
Shalom Bibleman, Sorry, I have neglected to welcome you to SBF. I'm so pleased to have you with us! I thought that they all were, interracial, that is... :o) I attend a fellowship mixed with Jewish believers and gentile believers, and it wouldn't surprise me to find a few ex-catholics (as this state is a big catholic state). We got Russian, Chinese, Mexican, interracial families - all the different colors (not speaking just of skin, but of culture, modes of thinking and behaving, etc.) that make up this little fellowship paints one very beautiful masterpiece that only the Lord could possibly conceive. I feel sooo privileged and blessed to be a part of it. Cheri |

13 | What would make this allogory? | 1 John 3:2 | skccab | 214226
Greetings John, Very well stated, bro. God's family is made up of all kinds of folks, and we each come with our paint brush and colors. When we all get together, the Spirit comes up with ONE extraordinarily fine picture. Cheri |

14 | This generation will not pass away.... | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 214213
Shalom Vintage, You've made some valid points, for sure, but in what context? There are some who believe that it all took place in 70AD and we are now in the 1000yr reign??? Of course, I would beg to differ. (If we are in a reign of peace, I sure would hate to see what a period of discord is like! lol) I'm prety laid back on the end times speculation, it's enough to know that I have a part in it, somehow, somewhere, sometime. For the present, my part is to make the life and breath God has given me today count for somethng, that He shines through. If you get it figured out, let me know :o) Cheri |

15 | This generation will not pass away.... | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 214178
Shalom Eascusa, Just my 2cents worth: I've always understood that verse to mean that the generation living when "these things" begin will not die out before the great tribulation is ushered in...:o) (This would be allowing 80-100years for a generation.) Cheri |

16 | Does Jesus die for Gentile's sins too? | Gen 18:18 | skccab | 214155
Good evening Edscusa, You have some very good answers for both of your questions - but let's connect them. Nineveh was a nation of Gemtiles. Jonah was in the belly of a big fish 3days and 3nights, then relented and preached to Nineveh. The city heard and repented, and was saved from destruction. The Master was in the belly of the earth... Gentiles have always been allowed and welcomed to be a part of God's chosen people. When they attached themselves to Israel in the wilderness and in the Land, they were never to be treated as anything less than full-fledged Israelites, never ever second-class citizens. See Romans chapters 9-11. Cheri |

17 | Can one pray after his/her death? | 1 John 3:2 | skccab | 214082
Shalom John, This is not prayer for a change of what is already fixed, but it is "prayer" which is what the question was about. Rev. 6:9-11. So, according to that passage, there is definitely prayer-conversation still going on after death... Cheri |

19 | Reason 4 "6" Cities of Refuge? | Num 35:6 | skccab | 213944
Shalom Angela, Yes, I know that numbers very oftem are significant in Scripture, but in this case???? As far as you question about 2 tribal areas per city, I had thought of that for a moment, but the designation was 3 on either side of the Jordan, and if I recall correctly there were only 2 tribes that did not enter the promised land proper, so that figuring wouldn't work.... Sounds like you and your "ladies" are going to have fun...Sorry, though, I can't really help you in the customs thing. I just get little snippets here and there from Talmud, Josephus, teachings, etc. I know very little about the family structure in our Master's time... I know that there are books out there that would be of interest to you, but I don't know of them. I'm sure some of the other SBFers will be able to help you there. :o) Keep us informed on your classes, or email me with updates (in my profile) - it really sounds like you're going to have fun. Cheri |

20 | Reason 4 "6" Cities of Refuge? | Num 35:6 | skccab | 213942
Shalom Pattycake, I don't know of any significance in the particular number of cities, but I think I can help in the other part of your question. It was an ancient tradition to avenge the killing of a family member. This would be done by the "blood avenger." The cities were to be for refuge for accidental killings, not pre-meditated murder. The accused would find shelter within one of these cities as he awaited the verdict of the "judges" concerning the death. If pre-meditated murder he would pay with his life by the hand of the "blood avenger", there would be no refuge; if accidental (where there was no previous animosity between the two), then he would remain within the city until the death of the current high priest. If he left the confines of the city before that time, then the "blood avenger" could seek his life. (Num. 35:9-33) I pray this helps a bit, and that someone else may have an answer on the specific number of cities, that might be interesting.... Cheri |
