1 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157671
no! i think it would be unwise to be confident in my salvation. as we all have things to work on in ourselves. even if we don't offend outwardly (in actions), we still offend inwardly (in thoughts). we must continually strive for improvement, but i am confident, in the hope, that i might be saved! it's the Lord's way of keeping us humble. the more we read (and contemplate), the more we realize that we need work! i hope i am understanding your question.
2 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157662
that's all i was implying. thank you.
3 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157655
p.s. just because something is not to be taken literally, doesn't mean its not factual! or shall we look for a seven headed dragon to rise out of the ocean?
4 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157652
you guys are the modern day pharisses and sadducees! go report that hank.
5 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157651
first off i did not suggest that anything had to do with any one person. that was the comment of someone else. second, since there is no temple now, and there are plans to build one, are the two not connected? that is the new temple may serve as the platform for these things to occur?
6 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157650
well, not all biblical writings are allegorical; but many of them are. the red dragon in revelations, and the beasts in daniel, are all allegorical representations of future events! empires to be exact! Christ himself taught in parables to the masses. and who is it as you say, that presents it as factual information? is it not yourselves? as i have said, and grow weary of saying; i only asked a question! to get feed back, not patronized.
7 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157647
you obviously only get what you want to get out of posts on this forum! do you lack simple comprehension? you blow YOUR horn loud enough to drown out every one else. i was not dismissing anything that interpreters of times past have said, but as you should know, man can only observe what happens in his lifetime! just as daniel couldn't fully understand his visions because they had not been played out yet! and besides, i have adressed you personally at least twice with no response, it seems you only try to stab people when their back is turned to you. but i'm not suprised, it seems you dont process most of what you read! ominous
8 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Matt 24:15 | ominous | 157600
thanks for the response kalos, aside from the opinions of interpreters, isnt it plausible that the antichrist is not necessarily one man but a nation or power structure? or even a system? as when stated in revelations 1316-17 that those who would not recieve the mark... now to have a "mark" in your forehead or right hand could this not symbolize concurrence with, or support of a system, or philsophy? as in your forehead could mean, to "believe" and right hand, to "uphold"? i know there are many folds to the scriptures, as things tend to cycle back around as said in ecclesiastes 1:9 "the thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." also note that it says in revelations 13:18, " let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man," does not necessarily mean an individual man, as the number six also signifies the day in which man was made. no contention, just curiousity; as i have always been one to seek, and not follow. oominous.
9 | What is the abomination of desolation? | Not Specified | ominous | 157580
I read that the jewish nation plans to rebuild Solomon's Temple.Though they are having problems deciding on an exact location, they intend to build it some where in Jerusalem, if not in the original location. This would cause turmoil in the middle east (as if there isn't enough already!) as opposing nations all try to stake their claim of the Holy Land. since the Temple was a symbol of God's peace, and he allowed it to be destroyed as a sign that there would be no peace concerning that region until the return of his Son to rule in righteousness, this temple is the will of man and not God! Is it possible then that this is what Christ spake of in matthew 24:15 "The Abomination of Desolation?"

well, for me to fully give my testimony would be too long. But i will say that before i came to personally know the Lord, and feel his influence in my life, I thought life was pretty much hopeless. "We live to die" i used to say. I always believed in Jesus, and God; but i felt they played a "passive" role at best in our lives. I always tried to read the bible, but could never get past Genesis 10. It all seemed unreal somehow, I guess it wasn't my time yet. I tried different churches, but never really felt comfortable. i asked questions, but never felt satisfied with the answers i recieved. So i prayed, and prayed, and read, and read; then something strange happened. it all started to make sense. My faith grew, and the things i read started to play themselves out in my life. Deepening my faith! i started to change little by little, the people i called friends, the places i went, the things i did, etc. Not by effort, but they just lost the appeal they once had. Then came the persecution. my family primarily (who had always called themselves Christians) also my ex-wife (that was a hard decision to make) began to refer to the Bible as "that book" i had it comming at me from every angle possible! i almost lost my footing as i was quite young in the faith, one night at my ex-wife's families house while i was under attack so to say, as they were bringing up my past, I went outside to be alone and pray. Now I know that this will sound "corney" or whatever, but, i asked the Lord if i was doing the right thing, was i on the right track? and as i was still saying the words, and looking into the night, i saw a shooting star exactly where my eyes were fixed on the stars. Or maybe it was a meteor, but anyhow it was so close, and bright that i heard it crackle as it went by! maybe you will say it was a firecracker or coincidence, but it strengthened me non the less, and confirmed in me that He was with me. Which was really all i needed, to know that i wasn't alone and he listened to me, that i mattered! there is much more to my story, as with all of us, but i don't want to bore you. let me just say that i find no greater joy than conversing on the scriptures and even debate is good to me, because it keeps us sharp and gives us the views of others. my hope and joy lies in the Kingdom of Christ, and that one even as myself can be recieved of him! to be in his presence not only spiritually but physically is my longing and when the kingdom does come, i think i will lie at his feet for a thousand years if he will permit me.
12 | Persicution | Luke 11:52 | ominous | 155404
No,there is a difference. An outsider, according to my understanding, is one who possibly does not know the lord or is searching for truth. These I would think are to be treated as brothers until they prove otherwise. If they be not of us, the Lord will weed them out. One who willfully walks in evil, sets out to tempt others purposly, or attacks Christianity, comes in the name of satan as a wolf in sheeps clothing. A brother or sister however, is not necessarily a true brother or sister, just because they "walk through the doors" so to say. There is to be a period of time in which the spirit will reveal their true intent, if they be sincere or not. But there are also those who have put themselves on the outside, these are the same as one who willfully walks in evil. 2 Timothy 2:24-25, 3:5-7. Colossians 4:5-6 says, "Walk in wisdom toward them that are without." meaning we are to be circumspect and percieve through the spirit, the true intent of the individual that is not in Christ. So in this respect, i appologize for jumping "gung-ho" into the previous conversation without knowing fully what was going on! I guess one of the reasons Hebrews 4:12 compares God's word to a two-edged sword is because not only can you "cut" others with it, but you can also "cut" yourself while handling it! ominous

i have not purposely tried to violate any guide lines, and i do not think i have been an agressor toward anyone. that is however, a matter of opinion (mine). as far as rebuke of statements made by me out of accordance with as you say sound doctrine, the only thing you can be talking about is the past kabalah reference. now, as i said before, i asked you how should we respond to a question that is not scripture based with a scripture? i never recieved a response. i look to you for an answer since you are clearly the expert on the rules and regulations of this forum. as far as anything else i posted, to my knowledge, even though it may not be in accordance with the teachings of your particular denomination, coincides with the bible. and concerning filing a complaint goes, i'm not a child i can just as easily ignore someone rather than have their posting privileges revoked. i said agression because denomination was aggressively obvious when i stated that baptism was not necessary for salvation. according to 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, anyone can be saved throgh Christ. do you think then that a murderer never baptized is worse than a murderer baptized before the murder took place? believe me, i am not trying to start that discussion again! just trying to show you where i'm comming from.
15 | Persicution | Luke 11:52 | ominous | 155331
absolutly not, but how do we know if one sincerly wants to know the truth, unless we "talk" to them and find out what they do or do not know? there are some here, who take pleasure in telling others to leave the forum, as their own posts prove. debate is healthy, it keeps you sharp. Titus 1:9 i think it is safe to say that most of us in here are either Christians, or looking to Christianity for answers. so why discourage someone at the first sign of non-conformity? we are all coming from different walks of life, and had to shed false indoctrination in some cases. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. there is however a difference between rebuking a brother, and convincing a gainsayer, or one looking for answers. there is a difference in misinterpretation and deliberate twisting, but is it being done deliberatly, or is that what he was taught? that is my point, i see the provoking nature of his comments, as i also see in others; to whom i do not respond.

p.s., thought i'd add this;Colossians 4:6, "Let your SPEECH be alway with GRACE, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Ecclesiastes 10:12, "The words of a wise man's mouth are GRACIOUS; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself." 1Peter 3:15, "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with MEEKNESS and fear." Some need apply these.

hi there obi 1,what exactly are the "keys" according to your understanding? i am not trying to be "stand-offish" or anything, as i also have met with aggression in this forum. according to the understanding imparted to me, the keys are the secrets of divine knowledge and faith, and also signify a direct link or relationship with God and Christ, and do not necessarily belong to any one particular "church" Luke 11:52. for God-thru-Christ chooses who so ever he will,Romans 9:16. As far as the Bible being changed goes, you are right to some extent; but we must believe that if the Bible is the word of God, then God has the ability to prevent his word from being distorted to the point that it no longer represents his will! This also is the reason that he has blinded the hearts of many, for they cannot change or manipulate that which they cannot comprehend! Please don't let the "behavior" of some discourage you from posting on this forum. Even today the spirit of the pharisees is with us!
18 | What is the significance of the feet? | John 13:8 | ominous | 155183
The washing of feet is a sign of servitude, and humility. Matthew 23:11-12, "But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." So if Peter would not allow his feet to be washed by Christ he was in a way, denying the service of Christ.
19 | Noah took 7 clean but only 2 unclean ? | Gen 9:3 | ominous | 155116
Hey Swerv, concerning the sabbath, according to ancient tradition, niether saturday or sunday is actually correct. Our calander is based off of the sun, and God originally used the moon as an indicator. As in Genisis 1:5,the day began at night fall, since darkness preceeded light. "The evening and the morning were the fist day". Originally we used the new moon to mark the first day of the month, which the night of the new moon was a sabbath, then we would count the days, the seventh being the sabbath, but with our modern calander, the day of the week on which the sabbath falls varies from month to month.Ezekiel 46:1,Amos 8:5,Ezra 3:5, Hosea 2:11, all prove that the new moon was a Holy Day. Technically Sunday is the first day of the week. But as Paul said in Colossians 2:16, no man can judge you wether you keep these days holy or not; Romans 14:5. The most important thing now is to get ourselves right with the Lord! Which brings us to the next subject, repentance; To make a change for the better as a result of remorse or contrition for one's sins. Jesus had a message; repent and sin no more! Luke 13:3, John 5:14, John 8:11. 1John 3:4 tells us that sin is transgression of the law! Mathew 5:17 tells us that the law is in effect, verse 19 says we should not teach that the law is null and void. Also in Isaiah 66:22-23, God says that we will keep the sabbath (law) in the Kingdom. Christ took away the penalty of the law, which is death; bringing grace. not the law itself. For he is the will of the father in the flesh, and as the scripture says; Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
20 | What prophecies were fulfilled by Christ | Ps 22:1 | ominous | 154705
Psalms 22 for starters,is practicly word for word exactly what took place at his crucifixion, Isaiah 53 also gives account of his life and death, and his intercession for us. The old testament as a whole prophecied of his comming, and was fulfilled in him. I seem to sense that this question is rooted in contention.
