1 Are their 2 sets of 10 commandments? OT general fmp6954 236865
Hey Doc you don't have to be rude about it the only place that i saw that was even close to answering my question was sethknorr at 232876 only his topic was mainly the fourth commandment, yet he was pretty clear that the commandments in the newtestmant were the ones to follow today.
Most people on the fourm do not understand that, still trying to hang onto the old law of sin and death.

2 Are their 2 sets of 10 commandments? OT general fmp6954 236844
I guess i didn't state the question properly to get the answer i was looking for. Let me try it again first we do have the 10 commandments that Moses brought down from the mountain. Now e have a new set of 9 commandments stated in the New Testament. the 4th was left out but that is not part of the question. The question is which set of commandments do we follow today or do we use both ?

7 Where is the 4th Commandmant found Bible general Archive 2 fmp6954 236143
Thanks Doc For the tip on the searching the archives I wasn't aware of that. I did find what I was looking for. As for the word proselytizing, you might as well have been speaking in tongues, I have know idea what that means.

This is what I found:

Subject: Sunday Sabbath or not?
Note: PART 2 OF 2

Here are the 9 other commandments reiterated by both Jesus and another NT writer.
Commandment 1 (Matthew 22:36-40 and 1 John 5:21)
Commandment 2 (Revelation 2:14 and 1 John 5:21)
Commandment 3 (Matthew 12:31 and 1 Timothy 6:1)
Commandment 5 (Matthew 19:19 and Ephesians 6:2-3)
Commandment 6 (Matthew 5:21-22 and Romans 13:9)
Commandment 7 (Matthew 5:27-28 and Romans 13:9)
Commandment 8 (Matthew 15:19-20 and Romans 13:9)
Commandment 9 (Mark 7:22-23 and Romans 13:9)
Commandment 10 (Mark 7:22-23 and Romans 13:9)

This is not the case with the 4th commandment. After Jesus death on the cross, no where do we see Paul or any other writer in the New Testament commanding Sabbath observance like they did on these nine other commandments. When we come to the Sabbath we see the contrary.

The fact is the 10 commandments is the old covenant which was abolished. But Nine of the commandments where reinstated into the new covenant, which is the law of Christ.

Deuteronomy 9:9
"When I went up to the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the LORD had made with you, then I remained on the mountain forty days and nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.

Deuteronomy 4:13
"So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments ; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

Then Paul makes clear that this covenant of the Ten Commandments were abolished, culminated with verse eleven “For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory.”

2 Corinthians 3:2-11
2You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 4Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. 5Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, 6who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, 8how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? 9For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory. 10For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory because of the glory that surpasses it. 11For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory.

It is obvious that Jesus was not trying to keep the law of the Sabbath intact in the New Covenant.

John 5:18
18For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.

In Christ,

Seth Knorr

First of all your answer was useless, Read the question again I said where in the New Testament is the 4th commandment found? Not the Old Testament.
You seem to not understand what the word fulfilled means, Look it up, the old law including the ten Commandments were completed, finished , of no more use. Why because the New Testament was a much better Law. And In the New Testament 9 of the 10 commandments were re-instated with the exception of the 4th commandment which was to keep the Sabbath .
You cannot worship two different Laws at the same time.
Paul clearly argues, in his letter to the Ephesians, that the “law of commandments contained in ordinances” was “abolished” by the death of Jesus upon the cross (2:14-15). The Greek term for “abolished” is katargeo, literally suggesting the idea of reducing something to a state of inactivity.
Paul uses this term twice in Romans 7:2,6 — showing that just as a wife is “discharged” from the law of her husband when he dies, even so, through the death of the body of Christ, men were “discharged” from the obligations of the Mosaic law. That the law here contemplated is the law of Moses, including the ten commandments, is demonstrated by the reference to the tenth commandment in Romans 7:7 (cf. Ex. 20:17).

14 baptism Gen 2:21 fmp6954 236067
  Greetings Mr. Smith
I see you didn’t bother to answer my question about your Baptism.
So I have to assume that you believe you had a baptism of the Holy Spirit, and probably another baptism by water. Which I understand is a common practice among the Pentecostal Belief.
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit was given by God. And God decided who would have it and who wouldn’t
Spirit baptism: the apostles on Pentecost Acts 2 and Cornelius' household in Acts 10. God determined who would receive it; it was not up to men to choose whether or not they would receive it. It was not administered by men, but was sent directly from the Lord in heaven. It was NEVER necessary to salvation, but was given in the age before the Bible was completed for the purpose of bestowing miraculous gifts
Acts 1:21.22, it cannot be received today by anyone. Now that the Bible has been completed, Holy Spirit baptism has fulfilled its purpose and ceased
So Mr. Smith you did not have the Baptism of the Spirit and as for the other baptism you probably had with water, that was done for the wrong reason, therefore all that did is get you wet.
You said HOWEVER SHOULD WE BE BAPITZED YES, CHRIST SET THE EXAMPLE
Yes we should be Baptized ! But was Christ’s Baptism an example ?
three reasons for the baptism of Jesus by John.
1. It was to identify the Lord as the Son of God at the beginning of his ministry.
2. It was a commencement token of the total dedication of Christ in carrying out Heaven’s plan.
3. It was a visual precursor to the Savior’s ultimate death, burial, and resurrection.
So Hardly an example for us.
You mentioned the Thief on the cross as an example of saving without baptism. That doesn’t hold water for several reasons.
1. Do We Really Know that the Thief Was Never Baptized?
Matthew 3:5,6 - People from Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region round about were baptized by John
2. The Thief Cannot Be Used as an Example of Salvation by Gospel Faith
Romans 10:9 - If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. So, to have the faith required by the gospel, we must believe that God "has raised" Jesus from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection are the fundamental facts of the gospel that we must receive, believe, and hold fast in order to be saved. The thief on the cross could not possibly believe Jesus had been raised from the dead, because He had not yet died, let alone been buried and raised.
So, if it is true that the thief could not have received the baptism of the gospel, then it is also true that he could not have possessed the same faith that the gospel requires of us today. The gospel requires us to believe that Jesus has died, been buried, and been raised. The thief could not have believed this, because it had not happened. All that he could have believed would be to look forward to these events, even as John's baptism looked forward to them
3. Many Scriptures Teach that Baptism Is Essential to Receive Forgiveness under the Gospel.
Mark 16:16,15 - The gospel teaches that he who believes and is baptized will be saved.
Acts 2:38 - Repent and be baptized for the remission of sins.
Acts 22:16 - Be baptized and wash away your sins.
Romans 6:3,4; Galatians 3:26,27 - We are baptized into Christ, into His death. We have newness of life after we have been baptized (John 3:3,5).
1 Peter 3:21 - Baptism now saves us.
Note carefully that all these passages state terms of salvation under the gospel - not the terms of salvation for people before the gospel came into effect.
The gospel clearly teaches that baptism is essential to receive remission. God's word does not contradict itself. The case of the thief could not possibly prove that people are saved without baptism, because that would contradict other gospel passages.
4. The Thief Was Forgiven before the Gospel Came into Effect.
So, the Old Law was in effect until Jesus died. But the thief was forgiven before Jesus died, while the first covenant was still in effect. The conditions he had to meet to be forgiven prove nothing about the conditions under which we are forgiven under the gospel.
5. Before His Death, Jesus Forgave People Directly as He Chose. After His Death, We Must Meet the Terms of His Will to Be Forgiven
Mark 2:5-12; Luke 7:48,49; cf. John 8:1-11 - Before His death Jesus directly granted forgiveness to several people. Apparently the thief is another such case. But He did not forgive any of these people under the terms of the gospel, since the gospel was not yet in effect.

  Hello Escar

I was just wondering about your post ,
are you actually saying that you received the baptism of the Holy Spirit ?
and was saved by it ?
and did you also receive the Baptism mentioned in the Great Commission,

16 The race is given to them who endure?? Gen 2:21 fmp6954 236053
The only problem is that this “saying” is not in the Bible. The first part of your quotation comes from Ecclesiastes 9:11.

I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.

The final part might come from Hebrews 3:14.

We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.

Many times we conflate two passages of Scripture in our minds – and come up with something that is no where actually said in the Bible.

The idea of enduring until death is found in a number of passages, though that is not what is in mind in Ecclesiastes 9:11. There the wise man is talking about the uncertainty of life. It is not always the best, the strongest, or the fastest who reap rewards in this life.

Holding out in a race is one of the key thoughts of 2 Timothy 4:7.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Enduring to the end is an important Biblical concept. “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Revelation 2:10).

The idea here is that we do not allow anything, even the threat of death or suffering, deter us from our faithfulness to God.

So, the thought of your quotation is Biblical – though the particular wording is not

17 Why did God allow Polygamy? Gen 2:21 fmp6954 236042
  Hello Steve
I do respect your opinions on Falling from Grace, Everything else we seem to be tracking pretty good. Maybe baptism
I fully agree with Pauls example of falling from Grace,
Acts 15:11 Some men came down from Judea and began teaching the brethren, "Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved."
These men were trying to justify salvation with the old law,
Jesus Planly states that circumcision didn’t matter.
Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.
So Galatians 5:4 says: You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law ; you have fallen from grace.
That is just one example. Lets take Paul for an example,

We are going to be looking at three points, the first of which is that it is pos¬sible to fall from God’s grace.
In 1 Corinthians 9:27 Paul was writing to the church in Cor¬inth. He knew that he had to discipline his own body, spiritually speaking. He was a preach¬er of the truth, yet he realized that he could become a castaway. Paul was an apostle. He was someone who we know was converted to the truth. Formerly, he had been a persecutor of Christianity, but now was one who is preaching Christianity. There is no doubt that he was a faithful member of the Lord’s church, yet he realized that he had to make sure that he continued to discipline his body because he did not want to become a castaway. Think about this for a moment. If an apostle like Paul realized that he could become a cast¬away, err, and fall from the grace of God, how much more, then, must we understand that we, too, can become castaways. It is vital that we take Paul’s warning and see how it is possible for us to fall from God’s grace. In 1 Corinthians 10 Paul explained his purpose for writing this portion of his letter to the church in Corinth. In verses 1-4 Paul says,
“Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.”
What is the context of these comments? Paul makes it clear that he is talking about Israel¬ites who were God’s people under the Old Law. Paul was giving some background about them. Notice, however, what he says in verse 5. “But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.” Most of the Israelites had erred, and with most of them God was not pleased. Paul explains why in verses 6 and 7 when he says, “These things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, ‘The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.’” He is referring to what happened in Exodus 32 when Moses was still on the mountain receiving the Ten Commandments from God. The people said, “Let us build an idol.” They begged Aaron to make them a golden calf so that they would have a physical idol to lead them. That is what Aaron did, and the people erred by doing that. In verses
8 Paul went on to write, “Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.” Twenty-three thousand fell. People today say, “You cannot fall from God’s grace. Yet Paul himself said that twenty-three thousand fell in one day. He continues in verses 9-11 by saying,
“Nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.”
Paul tells us that the reason he is writing these things is to offer us an example so that we can turn back and use this information. We can learn from that since it is for our admonition. Why is Paul writing to people under the New Law about people who fell away under the Old Law? If it is impossible for people to fall away, then why would Paul be warning them about that? His reasoning is that it is possible for people to fall away. I want us to look at 1 Corinthians 10:12 very carefully. Notice the warning that Paul offers. “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” Those are not my words. They are the words that Paul was writing to the church. He said, “Make sure that you do not fall away like those under the Old Law fell away. You need to learn from them so that you will not fall away as well.” Paul proved that is possible for a Christian to fall away.

18 Why did God allow Polygamy? Gen 2:21 fmp6954 236031
  Hello Again Justme
From what I can understand you feel that there is more to being saved than just believing .
Then are you saying that you are saved when you are baptized?
About the lady with cancer, She had her whole life to find Jesus, and obey the gospel , why she waited till she was on her death bed I don’t know. One might think that she didn’t know for sure if their was a God or not and only wanted to cover her bases. I don’t know if she truly believed , or if she repented, or if she confessed before men that Jesus was the Son of God. I do know that she was not baptized according to Gods word. Only God knows her heart, and if He decides to save her so be it.
You stated that Baptism could be one way of confession. Confession is before men . You confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, I don’t believe baptism can do that.
I do agree with you about obedience, up to the point where you were talking about satans trap and emotions, their you lost me, I would probably agree if I understood what you ment.
Falling from Grace Lets consider that: Is when you become a Christian and following Christ and growing in the Lord. Sometimes called walking in the Light. If you discontinue fellowship and start sinning, sometimes called backsliding, your are not walking in the light any longer, and you step out from under the umbrella of grace. Therefore falling from grace, Of course you can repent and come back to Christ.

20 Why did God allow Polygamy? Gen 2:21 fmp6954 236012
  Hi Boog

Polygamy did take place in the old testament, but he did not approve of it.
Genesis 2:21-25
21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept ; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 The LORD God efashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh ; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man."
24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife ; and they shall become one flesh.

God said joined togather with his wife (singular) and they one man and one woman shall become one flesh.
Have you ever played Simon says?
Simon says joined togather with his wife!
If you say joined togather with his wifes!
then Simon says you are out of the game.
So God Never approved of it.
