1 | Need guidance, want to talk with someone | Bible general Archive 1 | Greg Martin | 74932
Boy do I agree with that. There are arguments here that can be confusing. You have to recognize that every one here knows the only way to heaven is through Christ. All would agree you can not work your way into heaven, but must be saved by the blood of Christ. The arguments are on deep, deep details and non-salvation doctrines. These are those that have no bearing on your salvation, but are only the struggle to understand God in a deeper way. If you are a new Christian, you need milk, not meat. I recommend not reading this forum until you are weaned from the milk. This is no insult, even a car has to start in first gear. Read the Bible. Find a Church that believes in the whole Bible and it's inerrancy and infallibility. Go to Church. Go to it's Bible classes. Pray. |

2 | Anti Christ? Is America Babylon or Iraq? | Daniel | Greg Martin | 73882
Some say Rome was an extension of Babylon and hence Europe, and hence the United states. This by culture and migration and some other such things. I personally believe Babylon is Babylon and if you look at the looming action to come down on the dictator of Babylon, one might surmise a democracy taking his place. this could lead to wealth and Babylon becoming a world economic power. I have a problem with democracy. The United States was never meant to be, nor has it ever been, a democracy. The US is a Federalist Republic. The Founders wrote wisely on the tyranny of mob rule. Democracy is a humanist invention that overrules the inalienable God given rights. In a democracy, majority rules. So abortion can be voted legal. All the whites could vote for all the blacks to be slaves, etc, etc. Majority rule is mob rule and has little regard for things holy, or given by God. It violates the supremacy of God and puts man in His place. We used to think the one-world government would be a tyranny of a dictatorship. But I can see now it is more likely to be a tyranny of democracy! This is both fitting and ironic. Fitting in that man sets himself higher than God, and ushers in the antiChrist. It has always been Satan's goal to get man to commit the same sin as he did - to attempt to overthrow God and put himself in His place. Ironic in that man will vote himself into Hell! Anyway, I can see Babylon becoming a marvelous "triumph of democracy", becoming an international, global, economic power; all set for the end times. |

3 | Why would God seek to kill Moses? | Ex 4:24 | Greg Martin | 73880
From the text it appears that Moses was delinquent or even negligent to circumcise his son. It seems his wife Zipporah had to do it for him. This would account for why she was mad at him for she says "Surely you are a husband of blood to me!" and again after God let him go, she said, "'You are a husband of blood!'--because of the circumcision." v26 No mother would take kindly to having to do this to her own son. This would be a man's job. I think she's saying, I can't believe you made me do this because of your own negligence. In v26 it says "So He let him go." It appears God was going to take his life because he was not going to fulfill his part of the bargain. It may be that, since he did not do the circumcision, he was also intending not to go to Egypt either. (speculation) One can put 2 and 2 together and surmise that since God knew Moses would be the prophet, He did this to shock Moses back to the reality that he MUST go. Surely God knew that he would, yet it appears that he was preparing not to go. It is a hard thing that Moses was commanded to do, and he might have been thinking that meeting with God was just a dream, or that he was losing his mind and imagining these things. Imagine if you met God and He told you to go to Iran and depose the government. You would probably be looking for reasons to prove it wasn't real. |

4 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Greg Martin | 64714
Hey if you want to walk around telling God that what He does for your salvation is no good until you improve upon it, that's your perogative... Rom 1:16 If the power of God is not sufficient for you, If Christ and Christ alone is not good enough for you, tell it to God. If The Perfect One has cleansed you, why would you feel the need to smear the grotesque filth of your works upon it? Baptism is a consequence of salvation - Not a cause. "This sermon included baptism as a requirement of obedience unto salvation" Why would there be obedience unless one was first saved? |

5 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Greg Martin | 64695
Oh, that's right. They took the thief down from the cross, submersed him in water, and then hung him up to dry... *That's* how he made it....
6 | Is Zech 14:12 nuclear? | Zech 14:12 | Greg Martin | 64560
So is this nuclear? Does this chapter have a chronological order? If so then this is after Christ's return, so I doubt it is a man made weapon. If it is not necessarily chronological, than doesn't this depict nuclear war, or at least a nuclear launch?
7 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Greg Martin | 64559
But now you are agreed that baptism has nothing to do with being saved, but is a consequence of it?
8 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Greg Martin | 64472
Oh, yeah. Now I remember why I stopped spending time on this forum. Thanks for reminding me.
9 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Greg Martin | 64470
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. John 10:27My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. 30I and My Father are one." Salvation is sealed by the power of God and *no one* can change it - NO ONE would include yourself. Or do you have a power greater than God's? |

10 | "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED"!!! | Matt 22:37 | Greg Martin | 64469
Luke 23 39Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." 40But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." 42Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." 43And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." |

11 | Do I need to go to church | Hebrews | Greg Martin | 48847
I certainly hope you read the entirety of my message. The abstract (subject) is misleading and heretical.
12 | Do I need to go to church | Hebrews | Greg Martin | 48695
No. You don't need to go to church. You need to go to a Bible believing, Gospel preaching, by the blood of Christ Church.
13 | Catholic and Mary, what's the deal | Bible general Archive 1 | Greg Martin | 48095
Good answer. Glad I read all before responding, because my response is not needed.
14 | What does 1 Samuel 16:14-16 mean? | 1 Kin 22:22 | Greg Martin | 48094
This is different than 1 Kings 22:20. This is not necessarily an evil spirit, but a distressing spirit. If Gabriel himself appeared before you you'd be distressed. (But this is not what this is about that was just an example) Prov 21:1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. If God can turn the heart of the king wherever He desires, He can also wrench it. |
||||||
15 | Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. At last, TRUTH | 1 Kin 22:22 | Greg Martin | 48091
Yes. But it is not an evil spirit from God. An evil spirit appeared before the Lord when He asked who will go? See also Job 1:6-12 and 2:1-7.
16 | How did JESUS really die? | John 19:30 | Greg Martin | 45744
John 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 10:17 "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father." |

17 | Pearls of Wisdom by Sctt | Matt 12:36 | Greg Martin | 45235
Well, those are certainly, uhmm, interesting. One post in a roundabout way kinda makes sense. Sctt: 'Therefore it was not the eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that was mans sin but the breaking of the commandment THOU SHALT NOT. ' The sin was, in effect, the same as Satan's. That is trying to overthrow God. By disobeying they are essentially telling God that He shall not rule their life. So they are placing themselves in His position. This is Satan's crime; he tried to get others to commit it too, and he succeeded. One final note, the original text of Gen 2:17 is kind of confusing, but it goes ets da'ath towb ra 'akal (Perfect) yowm 'akal (Infinitive) muwth (Infinitive) muwth (Perfect) Which is something like tree knowledge good evil [shall have eaten] time [to eat] dying [shall die]. or "dying you shall surely die." |

18 | Who is the Angel of God or the Lord? | OT general | Greg Martin | 45231
Many believe it is the preincarnate Christ. The archangels are called by name.
19 | is jesus god? | John 1:1 | Greg Martin | 44898
Sidebar: Ye olde Pilgrim, Ye! Just reading the name Congregationalist brings me home. I love that Church. I have been led to serve in a very small non-denominational Bible Church in a highly liberal, non-church going city. I don't question God's plan for my life or His leading. I just miss my home church. |

20 | is jesus god? | John 1:1 | Greg Martin | 44897
There is Thomas' confession John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" Did Jesus rebuke Him? No. Rather, He replied 29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Thomas: "My Lord and My God" Jesus: "You believe" |
