61 | Was Israel saved, or not? | John 6:49 | Greg Martin | 36731
Zach, I did not get your point at first but now I see the connection. Not everyone who follows Christ will be saved. Only those who believe with their heart and give it to Him. Thus they may have followed Christ, but most did not obey, and some chose against Him. (Ex 32) Cain gave his offering but it was not acceptable. why? Because it was not with his heart. Many will come saying Lord, Lord but not all will enter heaven (Matt 7:21-24 Luke 13:25) The difference is the heart. |

62 | Elijah went to heaven alive | 2 Kin 2:11 | Greg Martin | 36726
Oh, yes. I see your point. And this is a very good one. Except for one thing. Heaven was not open for them yet. Christ opened heaven. Until then the saints went to "Abraham's Bossom" see Luke 16:19-31 The Rich Man and Lazarus. But, Elijah and Enoch may very well have traded their corruptable body on the way up. We are not told the details. We are only told that they did not die, but were taken up. Alternatively, they may have traded after heaven was opened. Or they may be in a separate place such as that which was called "Abraham's Bosom" But in any case you are absolutely correct in saying that heaven will not accept any corruption or imperfection. It is the Dwelling Place of God, and no impurity can ever be found there. I highly commend you on your excellent analysis. |

63 | O.T. Israel salvation? | John 6:49 | Greg Martin | 36723
I can be baptized (which only means submersed) and not have my heart right. Baptism does not precede salvation. It is a result of salvation. If all were saved why would any of them not choose the Lord? Ex 32 especially v 26 and 33. Men can go forward at the alter call, but if it's a "well, just in case..." or "ahh, what the heck..." or "sounds like a good idea..." they are as Cain in their heart and it will not be accepted. Only God knows who was never saved and who was saved but now chooses very unwisely. |

64 | O.T. Israel salvation? | John 6:49 | Greg Martin | 36719
Yes, I know you've argued that you can't lose your salvation, but let me say a couple of things. First, that admonishment is not a condemnation. I think if you heard me think the way it was written you would have heard the tongue in my cheek as I wrote it! But I wrote it to make you think. Second, even though you argued the opposite of Zach (how do you type that cross symbol?), there were words of ambivalence in your posts: "Zach†, I am not a 5,4,3 or 2-point anything, so I have no absolute position to defend. :-) I can see your point about the possibility of losing salvation. " I can't. Not at all. But I apologize, if this was harsh. As I review the posts I see that it was really that one quote that influence me to address my comments to both of you. I was afraid you might be faltering in your direction and wished to prop you up. I guess it wouldn't be the first time I've gotten into trouble on a forum by not explaining myself adequately. I had thought about not addressing the post to you, but I left you on it just in case. So I apologize again, but I hope you took the opportunity of my error to do a self-check. We all need that from time to time. |

65 | how do i pray and leave it with the lord | Prov 15:22 | Greg Martin | 36715
I'm guessing that you really don't want to quit, but rather you think you need to. When you decide to quit you will. What can force you to decide is to make yourself accountable to Christian friends. Proverbs 15:22 Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established. Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise. Proverbs 24:6 For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counselors there is safety. Don't be embarrassed, we were all sinners before being saved. In fact the only difference now is that we are forgiven because of our continual repentance. So just tell them your story and ask them to help. And of course continue praying (Luke 18:1-6) |

66 | Why is it that I cannot find Adonai in | OT general | Greg Martin | 36569
You can not find these in the Bible because you are reading an English Bible and these are Hebrew names! You have to translate them to English and then look them up. You can not find the word "rapture" in the Bible either because it comes from the word "rapturo" which is the Greek for the word harpazo which means "to catch away" or "snatch up" |

67 | O.T. Israel salvation? | John 6:49 | Greg Martin | 36564
Zach, Charis, Regarding your thinking about losing your salvation, This can not be done. Neither of you have the power to overcome God. (John 10:28,29) Now take the lesson of Abraham. Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." So God gave him the promise of land and a large family, and the Savior to come from his seed. But at the first sign of trouble, what did he do? 10 Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe in the land. 11And it came to pass, when he was close to entering Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "Indeed I know that you are a woman of beautiful countenance. 12 Therefore it will happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, "This is his wife'; and they will kill me, but they will let you live. 13 Please say you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you." He left the land God gave him for a foreign land. He feared for his life even after God told him he would be the father of a large nation. He disobeyed. He lost faith. He bore false witness. Yet God saved him in spite of this because God will work his plan no matter how hard you try to foul it up! You do not have the power to thwart what God has put forward! Shame on both of you for your arrogance! You do not mean to be, I know. But how is it then that you doubt the power of God? Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the **power of God to salvation** for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. |

68 | O.T. Israel salvation? | John 6:49 | Greg Martin | 36557
You can be backslidden once saved, but you can not ever be lost, or "unsaved" John 10:28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. Not even your own self! No one and no thing has the power to take them from God's hand. It is the power of God Almighty behind your salvation! |

69 | O.T. Israel salvation? | John 6:49 | Greg Martin | 36554
No one can lose their salvation. But not all church goers are Christians. Those who were saved out of Israel of the OT believed in Christ. They looked forward to the promise. We look back to the fulfillment. Cain went through all the motions and did what was required. His sacrifice was not accepted because his heart was wrong. He did what was required; he did not love what was required. Being "saved" from oppression is not the same as being saved. |

That's quite all right, Emmaus. As you may have guessed, I have not found my way back to this post until now. I find this Forum fairly difficult to manuver around in. But thanks for your response. |

71 | muslims - 144,000? | Revelation | Greg Martin | 36396
I've always wondered, Isa. Please take no offense, none is meant. Why do Muslims not like the Jews? Are you not half brothers? Why do the sons of Abraham kill each other? PS: You may be interested to know the Bible says Gen 16:7 The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. 9 Then the angel of the Lord told her, "Go back to your mistress and submit to her." 10 The angel added, "I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count." 11 The angel of the Lord also said to her: "You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard of your misery. 12 He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers." And did you know that many belive the "Angel of the Lord" is the preincarnate Christ? |

72 | The Rapture in Revelation | Revelation | Greg Martin | 36395
My 2c added in here... Rev 5:2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?" 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it. 4So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. No one in heaven. No one on earth. No one under the earth. 5But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals." 6And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. If No one in heaven, on earth or under the earth was found, where did the Lamb come from? Not in heaven. Not on earth. Not under the earth. then where? In the clouds, bringing up His Church? |

73 | U.S.A. in Bible Prophesy? | Revelation | Greg Martin | 36393
Too much speculation in these refs. Consider this. what if God didn't want people to know about this continent? What if God didn't want anyone to find this land until it was His timing? Revelation 10:4 Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them." 7 thunders, 7 continents. Would this have given us away? Is that why John was not to write it? |

74 | When will the Temple be rebuilt | Revelation | Greg Martin | 36391
Interesting note: Did you know the Israeli Supreme court gave the go ahead for a group to lay the cornerstone to the third temple? Answering your question: If you see it being built you know the rapture is near. this kind of makes me think it will not be until the Christians are gone that the Temple will be built. But then again it could be built and last for 100 years. What if the whole world has a white hot revival and the nations repent? Then surely the signs of the times will subside and it would take a few generations to return. |

75 | Elijah went to heaven alive | 2 Kin 2:11 | Greg Martin | 36390
No exaggeration. Read the whole chapter. at least from vs 1 to 14. Also read Gen 5:21-24 and Hebrews 11:5 Enoch was also taken without seeing death. So why would you think this is exaggeration? The verses you cite from 1 Cor are of the catching up (rapturo - rapture). |

78 | God of the living | Rev 6:10 | Greg Martin | 36197
First, Matt 17:1-8. Jesus told his disciples in 16:28 "Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." Now this transfiguration, was it Jesus who was transfigured, or the disciples? See Rev 1:12-18. In otherwords did Jesus just allow them to see that which He really was? The souls you mention in Rev 6:10 are those who came through the tribulation, not those who preceded us. See 6:11 and 7:9-14 The elders in 5:8 are definitely saints because they sing "For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood" Rev 5:9 Some speculate that because of Matt 17 the two witnesses of Rev 11 are Moses and Elijah. Others say that they are Enoch and Elijah because these two have not yet ever died. (Gen 5:21-24; 2 Kings 2:11) Now also to your question - I know I've meandered - note also Luke 23:43. Jesus told the thief he would be with Him in paradise TODAY. That would be even before the Ressurrection. God is the God of the Living. |

80 | Can a person's spirit visit the earth? | Bible general Archive 1 | Greg Martin | 36189
1 Samuel 28:3-22 Samuel came back and visited Saul. Spiritists and mediums are real. (They can be that is - most are thieves.) Be very careful to avoid these people. Avoid the hororscopes, tarrot card and palm readers, etc. These are real and are of the realm of Satan. |
