81 | The Lord told me to tell you..." ? | 1 Thess 5:20 | Pastor Glenn | 140567
Hello Doc, Thanks for your excellent reponse, as well as, excellent responses from EdB, Kalos, and Searcher. You guys and others are great on this forum. Here is a quote from your reference website: "The Validation Of Prophecies I Thessalonians 5:19-20 commands the Christian to prove, or test, all prophecies. How? The apostles were able by their miraculous gifts to vindicate their own message, but no such provision was given the prophets." Also the summary: "Summary Prophecy was an important gift to the church and met a unique need in the early church, but it is no longer needed or given. Its "partial" messages (I Corinthians 13:9) have been replaced by the complete Revelation. The church today stands, then, at a great advantage without it." Please explain the differences between this and the comments of others. I fail to see much differences in the details. Honestly, my comprehension is laking here. Pastor Glenn |

Exodus_20, We believe in one God, that manifests as three eternally distinct persons. This is what we call the Trinity. Is this easy to understand? No. However, God did give us an example using the man and wife: Gen 1 26 And God saith, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over fish of the sea, and over fowl of the heavens, and over cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that is creeping on the earth." 27 And God prepareth the man in His image; in the image of God He prepared him, a male and a female He prepared them. Notice "Us" and "Our" in verse 26, but "He" and "Him" in the very next verse (27). Gen 2 23 and the man saith, "This [is] the [proper] step! bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh!" for this it is called Woman, for from a man hath this been taken; 24 therefore doth a man leave his father and his mother, and hath cleaved unto his wife, and they have become one flesh. (Young's Literal Translation) So just as a man and his wife are "one" flesh (but two persons), the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are "one" God (but three persons, the Trinity). Philippians 2 5 For, let this mind be in you that [is] also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, thought [it] not robbery to be equal to God, (YLT) So Jesus speaks of more than one person because they are more than one person, but one God. I hope this helps. |

Mathew 22 42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David. 43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, 44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? (Psalms 110, Acts 2:34-35) Notice "...The LORD said unto my Lord...". This is another scripture (used several times in the bible) that shows one person talking to another person (Trinity). |

jcsav, I just reviewed a post to you from EdB, post ID 112839. I see you are "Oneness" Pentacostal. You do believe that Jesus is God, but that God is only one person that manifests as three (Modalism). Well , I was wandering how you explain Jesus' reasoning when He said: John 8 16 And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me. 17 It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me." Notice that He said "... the testimony of two men is true. ..." Doesn't this show Jesus as using faulty reasoning if He in fact was the same person as the Father? And how about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? Mat 12 31 "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. If the blasphemy is against the same person, then why is there forgiveness for blasphemy against the "Son of Man" (Jesus Christ), but not forgiveness for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? If you really are interested in "what God says about Himself", then study what He said about Himself in these scriptures above. |

86 | old testament salvation | Lev 18:25 | Pastor Glenn | 140124
Hello Angel, You asked: "... now, do you think that Adam and Eve were cognizant of God's Design (Genesis 3:15); do you think that they clearly understood that thousands of years later there would be a Messiah, who would die for their sins and that they would be granted Life if they but Believed?" Well it is clear that someone taught Cain and Abel the need to offer sacrifices. Also, by faith Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice than did Cain. How did Abel know to offer a more excellent sacrifice? The answer is by believing God's Word and acting on the Word in faith. Remember how God personally counseled with Cain before he killed Abel, but instead of acting on God's Word, he murdered his brother. No faith in the Word. I checked the lifetimes. Adam lived until Enoch was 308. I wanted to point out that Noah lived until Abraham was 60 and Shem (Abraham's ancestor) outlived Abraham to see Jacob's 50th birthday (I think I added right). The point is that living witnesses were always present to present "living epistles". You quoted this verse: Joh 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Joh 8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? I feel that Christ's point was not so much as to whether Abraham had seen a pre-incarnate Christ. I feel that the point was that Abraham looked forward to his Redeemer coming into the word as the Seed of a woman and as the Seed that would bless the whole world (Gal 3:8,16). I feel this way after reading verses like this: Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. You asked: "Does the Old Testament speak of God's prophets being sent to the pagans?" Yes, Jonah for one. God has always told man more than enough to be saved. When we respond to His enlightenment, He gives us even more light. That God was going to provide a Redeemer has always been told. That His righteousness becomes ours has aways been told. That faith in the Word is required for salvation has always been told. The Tree of Life was a "Type" of Christ. Noah's Ark clearly represented a "Type" of Christ as the "Way" of salvation. Here are a bunch of scriptures that I thought would be good to be aware of: Luk 4:25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; Luk 4:26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. Luk 4:27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. Habakkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Pastor Glenn |

Hello Tim, Your right: "No where does this passage say that the angel will become their god!" I was looking for that, but failed to mention it. How Eric could see this angel as Satan from this passage of scipture is the real mistery. I wonder if the misconception that the God of the Old Testament is a different God than the God of the New Testament is what Eric's faith is built upon. If so, he is in for a very rude awakening. Eric, You said: "Obviously a all Loving God would not create you, knowing you will not come unto the knowledge of the truth and just have to be cast into this scary Lake of Fire....this is a devil God...Not a Jesus Christ God.... ... All Mankind will be saved (all in their own order), except the Son of Pardition." I want to focus on where you said: "...God would not create you, knowing you will not come unto the knowledge of the truth and just have to be cast into this scary Lake of Fire...." Isn't this true for the devil also, that God would not create him knowing he will not come unto the knowledge of the truth and just have to be cast into this scary Lake of Fire? Why do you ignor the scriptures that deal with sin and hell fire? 1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, [ That is, catamites] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. Matthew 5:19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Jer 23 10For the land is full of adulterers; For because of a curse the land mourns. The pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up. Their course of life is evil, And their might is not right. 11"For both prophet and priest are profane; Yes, in My house I have found their wickedness," says the LORD. 12"Therefore their way shall be to them Like slippery ways; In the darkness they shall be driven on And fall in them; For I will bring disaster on them, The year of their punishment," says the LORD. 13"And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria: They prophesied by Baal And caused My people Israel to err. 14Also I have seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: They commit adultery and walk in lies; They also strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one turns back from his wickedness. All of them are like Sodom to Me, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah. 15"Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets: "Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, And make them drink the water of gall; For from the prophets of Jerusalem Profaneness has gone out into all the land."' 16Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the LORD. 17They continually say to those who despise Me, "The LORD has said, "You shall have peace"'; And to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say, "No evil shall come upon you."' Hello Eric, You believe in "Universalism" You said: "Christ will save ALL MANKIND." But Christ warned: Mat 24 48But if that evil servant says in his heart, "My master is delaying his coming,' [g] 49and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Please explain how this scripture warning goes along with universalism. Pastor Glenn |

92 | Theoretical Question | Bible general Archive 2 | Pastor Glenn | 139769
Hello Eric, Please calm down. The real scripture says "...will not pardon ...": Ex 23 20Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 21Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. (KJV) But you mis-quoted here by saying "...does not pardon...": "Now...We know that The God of Abrham Isaac and Jacob told Moses to "Beware of the Angel I set before you, for he will become YOUR GOD and he does not pardon TRANSGRESSIONS". Is 55 reads: 7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Notice "...abundantly pardon". You concluded: "Who is this Angel that was to oversee Isreal through the forest..To become their God...and who would not Pardon their transgressions? The scary thing is it was Satan. He was the one who wanted all the lambs slaughtered and bulls. He was the one who said "Stone a women if she commits adultery". " The new Testement is solidly built upon the truths and prophecies of the Old Testement: John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Does this sound like Jesus felt the Old Testament is evil? Pastor Glenn |

Eric, You said: "I am at work and do not have a Bible handy nor the time at this point to pull up all the texts. But believe me...Its in their." It is good to see that you believe in the grace of God. It is also good that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. However, you have a basic misunderstanding of the Old Testament God and scriptures. You really need to stop mis-quoting scripture and wait until you have time to quote correctly. This is a "study bible forum", not a "study mis-quote forum". Pastor Glenn |

95 | We shouldn't be in the military? | Eccl 3:8 | Pastor Glenn | 139678
Hello He-man, You asked: “…why does it say 2 Corinthians 10:3,4”: ------------------------------------------------- " For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) ------------------------------------------------- This scripture is discussing “spiritual” war. God is spirit and so is Satan. Satan is more afraid of a righteous persons’ prayer than the US military: ------------------------------------------------- James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ----------------------------------------- By prayer we ask God to fight for us. A praying, righteous soldier does not depend on his gun. He depends on God to give him the victory. You quoted: -------------------------------------------------- Luke 22:49-51 "...Lord shall we smite with the sword?...and cut off his ear..and Jesus ..touched his ear and healed him. -------------------------------------------------- Jesus also said here that they that live by the sword shall die by the sword. Jesus told them that He could easily have called down legions of angels to stop His arrest, but He was about to be crucified and it was time. The anti-Christ agenda was being used by the Chief Priests in an effort to destroy Christ. Satan was behind their plans. You quoted: -------------------------------------------- Eph 6:10-18 "..be strong..put on the whole armor of God..helmet of salvation...shield of faith..sword of the Spirit.." -------------------------------------------- Again, this is speaking of “spiritual” armor for spiritual warfare. The anti-Christ agenda is being used by Islamic terrorists today in an effort to destroy Christianity and the Jews. Satan is behind their plans. The good vs. evil battle is more specifically Christ vs. anti-Christ (Rev 12). Here is another scripture: -------------------------------------------- 2 Chronicles 20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. -------------------------------------------- Pastor Glenn |

97 | able destroy both soul and body in hell? | Bible general Archive 2 | Pastor Glenn | 139340
Hello Forgvn, You got me wrong. I was not concluding that there is no immortal soul. What I said was: "If there is no immortal soul, then Jesus' statement here seems meaningless, doesn't it?" I was refering to the verse: Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (NKJV) You concluded "...we should be afraid of only Him." I agree. However, some do not believe in "ETERNAL" torment of the soul in "hell fire" or the "lake of fire". They believe that the soul of the wicked will simply "cease to exist". My question is how can they believe that in light of this particular scripture. The point is, if the soul ceases to exist by destruction in the "Lake of Fire", then why should anyone fear God more than man. Man can destroy the body, so if the soul then ceases to exist after death, what is the difference in whether a person fears God or not? Do you see what I am getting at? So, again I say to those that do not believe in eternal torment, please explain this scripture. |

99 | The Devil cannot be punished, can he? | Bible general Archive 2 | Pastor Glenn | 139248
Hello He-man, I am a bit confused by why your comments here conflict with the scripture that you used to create your profile. You said here: "Everyone has the freewill choice to accept or reject Jesus; not by coercion. ..." co·er·cion : the use of express or implied threats of violence or reprisal (as discharge from employment) or other intimidating behavior that puts a person in immediate fear of the consequences in order to compel that person to act against his or her will; Is it a "threat" to warn people that their enemies are coming down the street to destroy them? (Eze 33) Or, is it a "threat" to ask a drowning person to grab hold of the Life Line to be saved? Or, is it a threat to tell someone to leave the house because it is on fire? If they refuse to listen to the warning they are already condemned by their situation. Jesus spoke about this condemnation in John chapter 3: Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. Then you said: "... The result of rejecting the dictates of your own heart(accepting Christ) is simply eternal separation from immortality." This is where the confusion comes. Because in your profile you quote: "These are things which I hold as truths and duties:... ... Matt 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth" So I repeat the scripture: Jeremiah 23 16Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the LORD. 17They continually say to those who despise Me, "The LORD has said, "You shall have peace"'; And to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say, "No evil shall come upon you."' While most of us agree that the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the best, but it is incomplete without also proclaiming the consequences (hell fire). Pastor Glenn |

Nikkicole, Please see my question at ID# 92778. Arn't "Jahovah's" Witnesses anti-Christ or else they would be called "Jesus Christ" Witnesses? The focus of the Watchtower and Tract Society on the name "Jehovah" is totally misplaced emphasis. The scriptures already have the emphasis on the name of the Son! Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Truthfinder, I have pointed out that the great conspiracy of Satan is really the "spirit of anti-Christ", not "anti-Jehovah". But, you have not responded to this point. Do you agree that scripture emphasizes a conspiracy against the Son (Anti-Christ)? 1 John 4 2By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit that does not confess that[1] Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. How does the NWT render the above scripture? Do you agree that the doctrine of the trinity "does not" teach that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are "one person"? However, they are "one God", but also three eternally distinct persons. Is this your understanding of what we believe? I am not asking if you agree with us, only if you know and understand what we believe. The bible is clear that there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved. John 3 18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Do you believe that you can be saved by the name Jehovah or by the name of Jesus Christ? Pastor Glenn |
