| CDBJ: Thank you for your postings. You have stimulated me to start researching the rapture question and reconsidering my view, which is pre-trib rapture. I did some research. What I found will be no surprise to you. But it sure surprised me. Here's is what I've found so far. I quote from an article available at the website of the Christian Research Institute (CRI). That the Church will be raptured before the Tribulation "is only one of the major positions on last things. "The other basic views are all post-tribuational . . . The historic view, or the view held generally by the church since apostolic times, is that the Tribulation is future and that Christ will return to earth after the Tribulation and will meet his saints on the way in the rapture. (...) "From the above views, we can see that the majority of the opinions are post-tribulational. The only view that is pre-tribulational is the dispensational viewpoint, which became popular during the 1800's through the teaching of a man named Darby in the British Isles. Darby's teachings were popularized in America by C.I. Scofield in his Scofield Reference Bible" (www.equip.org/free/DS320.htm). |

| CDBJ: I am now in the process of checking out signministries.org. Truly there is much to consider at this website about the rapture timing. Thanks again for providing the link to this website. I have read some of the website, as well as Matthew 24, 2 Thessalonians 2, Revelation 6 and 9, etc. And I have read them in the NASB study edition which contains cross references and translators' notes only -- no explanatory footnotes, charts, etc. There is much to investigate. I will keep you up to date as to what I am finding. Grace to you. |
