1064 | Do All Things Work Together For Good? | Rom 8:28 | prayon | 11290
I am most happy to give any of my testimonies whenever I get the chance because it shows the awesomeness of God and how He always has a plan! It also helps people to know that someone else has been where they are now and made it out. The thing we must remember though is that He will not put anything on us that we can not bear - although at times I think he gets very close! :o)
1065 | Do All Things Work Together For Good? | Rom 8:28 | prayon | 11285
Steve, I can also give you a personal testimony. I was a victim of spouse abuse, mental, emotional, and physical. After I was out I saw how God took a bad thing and made good come out of it. I have helped quite a few women get out of the same situation I was in. Who knows if one of them would eventually been killed. God does take the bad and use it for good. Now I want to go in another direction. Sometimes God takes people to be merciful to them. You never know what that person might of gone through if they had not died. Suppose that young child would of grown up there could of been something horrible that would of happened to them that God kept from happening. The doctors could of learned something from that woman that will be able to help them treat others in the future. We never know what the future could of been for those people. |

1066 | details of curtain in temple splitting | Heb 9:1 | prayon | 11282
Hebrews chapter 9 describes the curtain as the symbolic barrier between God and humanity, created by humanity's sin. Sinful ones are not allowed in the presence of God. Once a year the priests entered with the veil, his symbolic protection was the blood of the lamb sacrificed in substitution for sinners (9:22). When Christ died he became the sacrificial lamb. He substituted for every believer in suffering the wages of sin which is death. Jesus death and the torn curtain have a two-fold purpose. 1) The ceremonies of were all fulfilled at the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. This was later confirmed by the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. Because sacrifices were only permitted to be offered in the temple, all Jewish animal sacrifices ceased after 70 AD. They should of stopped with the torn curtain. At the cross Christ became the high priest bearing blood. 2) The torn curtain symbolizes that there is nothing between God and the believer. God's presence is open to us whereas before it was only open to the priest. We can now experience complete oneness with God. I might add the curtain was 20 feet by 60 feet by 4 inches thick. It took 300 priests to move the curtain. The curtain was also completely torn - nothing stands between us and God, not even a thread. We have total access to Him. The curtain was repaired by the priests because they thought the earthquake had caused it to tear. It is also interesting that the curtain ripped at the time of the evening sacrifice. Some priests became believers because of the curtain. |

1067 | Are We to Hate His (Our) Enemies? | Ps 139:22 | prayon | 11003
Life Application says this: David's hatred of his enemies came from his zeal for God. David regarded his enemies as God's enemies, so his hatred was a desire for God's righteous justice and not for persona; vengence. Is it all right to be angry at people who hate God? Yes, but we must remember that it is God who will deal with them, not us. if we truly love God then we will be deeply hurt if somenoe hates Him. But while we seek justice against evil we must also pray that God's enemies will turn to Him before He judges them. Matt 5:44 also tells us to love our enemies. by loving them we can overcome evil with good. It is to be a 'righteous anger' that we should hve. prayon

1069 | Why Doesn't God Desire Sacrifices? | Ps 51:16 | prayon | 10997
Steve, God wants a contrite heart and a broken spirit. You can never please God by outward actions - no matter how good - if your inheart attitude is not right. I believe that God was saying that he doesn't want sacrifices if your heart is not in the right place. Just as Jesus taught us that actions do not get you into heaven if your heart is not right with Him.

1071 | When a prophet? | Nahum | prayon | 10917
The only thing that I couldn't find a date for is when Jonah "met" the fish. Could he of been a prophet before the fish incidence and been a disobedient prophet?
1072 | Nineveh's judgment prophecied/take place | Nahum | prayon | 10894
God gave Jonah a job to do but Jonah ran from God and he was swallowed by a great fish. While in the belly of the great fish Jonah repented and became a prophet in 793BC. His ministry ended in 753BC. Ninevah doesn't fall until 612BC. Ninevah fell well after Jonah ended his ministry, probably well after he died. prayon |

1073 | Day of the Lord? | Joel | prayon | 10886
The "day of the Lord" is a common phrase in the OT and in the book of Joel (2:1,11,31;3:14). It always refers to some extraordinary happening, whether a present event (like a locust plague), an event in the near future (like the destruction of Jerusalem or the defeat of enemy nations), or the final period of history when God will defeat all the forces of evil. Even when the day of the Lord refers to a present event, it also pictures the final day of the Lord. It can be referring to the same thing as 1Thess 5:2 or it can be referring to the 2nd coming. I believe it is refering to the 2nd coming. Another good one to ask Jesus when we see him......prayon

1076 | Divorce and remarry? | Ps 103:12 | prayon | 10878
Some denominations believe that once you have been divorced you are not able to enter the ministry. Some denominations do not have that belief. I know of no where in the bible that says you may not enter the ministry except in 1 Tim 3:1-13. In those verses it says that you must be married only once to serve as a bishop. However, in the KJV among others it says "be husbands of one wife", which can mean that you can only be married to one woman at a time and have nothing to do with divorce and remarriage. There are many different reasons for divorce, some the bible gives consent for and some it does not. I have no idea what your circumstances were in your divorce but if they were against scripture I am sure that you have asked for forgiveness from God and have repented for them. In that case your sins have been washed away by the blood of the lamb. They are no more, and if God has forgotten them who is man to remember them? If your reasons were biblically correct then you have not sinned at all and should not be held back for obtaining your divorce. I would also say this to you. If you have prayed and truly feel that God has called you into the ministry then who is man to keep you from what God has called you to do? If your church or denomination forbids it I suggest that you go where you are able to fulfill God's call on your life. prayon |
