The answer to your question Revelation 6:16,17 Rev. 6:16-17 and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17for the great day of their wrath is come; and who is able to stand? Notice that in Joel the word BEFORE the great and awesome day of the Lord. Everything that has taken place up to now in Rev. 6 has not been from the Lord. The tribulation up to this point has not been the Lord wrath but that of the adversary! Jesus backs this up with Matt. Chp.24 and Paul says the same thing in II Thess. 1:7-11 2 Thes. 1:7-11 and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire, 8rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus: 9who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day. Did you catch the time period in verse 10 (WHEN) The rapture of Christ church and God's wrath on those that are left behind is all going to happen on the very same day! Just like it did in the days of Noah and Lot. Significantly, Joel 2:31 places an important time marker in relationship to these events. Joel declares, The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. Any and everyone who attempts to make the sign that initiates the Day of the Lord and Day of the Lord equal must violate this verse. Joel is clear: the sign occurs before the Day of the Lord comes. Whatever else the first four seals are, they are not a part of the eschatological wrath of God, a fact to be substantiated later. 3. The second significant portion of the sixth seal is the response of those who dwell upon the earth in Revelation 6:14-17. 3a. Kings…the great men…the commanders…the rich…the strong…every slave…free man John lists a very broad cross section of humanity who respond to the sign that signals the imminent outbreak of the wrath of God. This list is intended to show that all unbelievers living on the earth at this time are the subjects of the coming wrath. Revelation 19:18-19 indicates that these are the very groups God shall sacrifice to the birds at His great supper. 3b. Hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains this phrase indicates that the wide circle of humanity recognizes the import of these signs. This supports our claim that the mountains and islands do not disappear at this point, but move out of their original locations. Notice, they hid themselves, which is past tense. These people are in the caves and mountains. 3c. They said to the mountains and to the rocks indicates that the wicked desire death. 3d. Fall on us and hide us this phrase is a bit strange. Perhaps, the strangeness of this verse demonstrates the level of fear the wicked are experiencing at this point. Death is not the immediate goal of the wicked at this point. Obviously, if the mountain falls on them, they will die, but they request not only to die, but also to be hidden from the sight of God. This suggests that the presence of God is beyond human appreciation unless man is holy. A wicked man in the presence of a holy God is beyond human tolerance. To be dead is not enough. To merely commit suicide is not enough. For the wicked, even to be dead in the presence of a holy God is not enough. They want to be buried. They want to be out of sight. 3e. From the presence of Him who sits on the throne is a clear reference to God the Father. Throughout the book of Revelation, and in this context (notice the Lamb), God the Father is seated on the throne. Some argue that the presence of Him who sits on the throne is a roundabout way of referring to God the Father without mentioning His name directly. Who is seated is not an issue! For this author, we are more interested in what is seen by the wicked. Isaiah 2:19 states, And men will go into caves of the rocks, and into holes of the ground before the terror of the Lord, and before the splendor of His majesty, when He arises to make the earth tremble. The terror of the Lord and the splendor of His majesty may refer to the glory of God. Peter declares in his second letter that Jesus, received honor and glory from God the Father…the Majestic Glory…. Job 13:11 records, Will not His majesty terrify you, and the dread of Him fall on you? The point is this: there is going to be a manifestation of God the Father at this event. It will involve His glory, which might be depicted through a great throne since God is invisible. This is a two part answer if you want the rest let me know. CDBJ |

I take it that you don't believe in Ephes. 4:11-12 And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ: If you don't need help from other as this statement from Eph. clearly shows, you are the smartest person on this forum. Just be careful friend remember Proverbs 11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame; But with the lowly is wisdom. This is the last part to your question if you want it. 3f. From the wrath of the Lamb is the second object of terror for the wicked who seek death and burial as an escape. It is clear that the Lamb is Jesus Christ, the second member of the Trinity. With the Lamb is connected wrath. This is the first explicit usage of the term wrath in the book of Revelation. That it is connected with the Lamb should not be taken lightly. Jesus is the eschatological Judge (John 5:27, Acts 10:42 and Daniel 7:13-14). He executes the Father's wishes. 3g. For indicates the reason for the conduct of the wicked. The reason the wicked call upon the mountains and the rocks to kill and bury them is because of the great day of wrath initiated by the cataclysms. 3h. Great day of their (His) wrath has come is an important clause for several reasons. However, before we look at the significance of the complete clause, the reader may be aware of a slight difference in wording of this verse in different translations. Their verses His wrath is an ongoing discussion. One cannot be dogmatic either way. There is no theological difference regardless of the adopted reading. The Lord Jesus clearly states that He and the Father are one in ever way important. Therefore, His wrath is their wrath and their wrath is His wrath. The context clearly identifies this day as the eschatological Day of the Lord, which in the Old Testament is God the Father's day of wrath. However, in the New Testament, the term Lord comes to represent Jesus as well (Acts 2:36). Therefore, the Day of the Lord is both Jesus' and the Father's eschatological wrath. Has come properly translates the grammatical construction, but the sense of the Greek verb is missing. The Greek suggests the sense is about to come. The emphasis is on the initiation of the action. This fits well with the question of the Martyrs in the fifth seal. The fifth seal requests the coming of the wrath of God. The sixth seal announces the impending or imminent arrival of the wrath of God and the seventh seal demonstrates the wrath of God. 3i. Who is able to stand? This rhetorical question demands an answer, which is no one! There is no wicked person able to stand up against the wrath of God. From Revelation Commentary, www.revelationcommentary. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. This is what I go by, but as with many, sometimes we suffer from a paradigm paralysis. I was a staunch pretribulationist for over thirty two years until I was taught that the scripture says something different. I was almost to the point that I couldn't see the forest for the trees. When I finally unscrewed my head enough to let a different thought in everything fell into place, but if a person is so dead set on trying to see it all one way the truth can almost jump up and bite them and they won't be able to see it. The book that cleared it up for me was the one already mentioned, The Rapture Question Answered. But like Burger King, Have it your way! I would hate to see someone confused by the facts! There are many on this forum that could tell you the same story. CDBJ |

Not according to what the Bible says must happen first if we are to take the Bible at face value. The doctrine of the immense of the rapture is a mystery doctrine without Biblical backing, it is the wishful thinking are the part of some that have twister scripture around to fit a hopeful desire. I would like for it to be so but God has designated other plans that will test our faith to the limit. James 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 2 Thes. 2:1-11 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 668 | DID JESUS EVER MARRY OR HAVE THE TEMPTAT | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 35188
I think that the verse that must be in question is found in Hebrews. Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. The verse doesn't say all situations, it says all points. We must remember that temptation isn't a sin unless given into. I John tells us that there are three way by which we can be tempted that are a part of the world system. 1 John 2:15-16 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. The three ways pointed out here are lust of flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. You can see that Satan knew these and used them on Jesus in the book of Matthew when Christ went through his great temptation. See if you can pick out these three in the following verses? Matthew 4:1-11 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. In these verses alone Christ was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin. Actually when we commit personal sin it all starts through one of the three categories. Notice also the way that Jesus combats the temptation, through the knowledge of, and use of God's word. 1 Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. This doesn't say that God is going to take the temptation away but that we will be able to bear it the same way Christ did. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

669 | define repentance | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 35398
Repentance as described in the Greek of the New Testament is not the same as one might think in the English. 2 Cor. 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. Godly sorrow can bring about repentance but true repentance isn't sorrow. Repentance come to us from the word METANOIA in the Greek. It is a compound word from META, meaning to change and NOIA, thinking. With regards to salvation as mentioned in the verse, it actually means to change your thinking about the person of Jesus Christ and once you do this never to change your thinking again. If you are only sorry as the world is sorry, you will end up separated from God for eternity. When people are sorry for their sins, God is not the lest bit impressed with their sorrow. The only thing that God is impressed with, when it comes to sin, is what His Son did on the cross. Therefore if you want to do something that will really count with God put all your faith and trust in what Jesus did for you on the cross. Faith and repentance are two sides of the same coin and it all point to Christ. |

1 John 1:7-9 but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. The word walk is a great word in the Greek PERIPATEO, it is one foot out in front at a time. If you try to stop with one foot up in the air while you are moving it will through you off balance. When we get off balance and sin then we need the rest of the I John 1:9 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Repentance has two objects one for the unbeliever and one for the believer. The risen living Word for the unbeliever and the living written Word for the believer. Revelation 3:20 is for the believer or child the God is trying to get his act back together. Rev. 3:19-20 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. We try to do our best but we still have the old sin nature along with our new nature. Romans 7:24-25 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Won't it be nice when this is over and we are out of here! CDBJ |

672 | Why can God kill when he tells us not to | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 36054
On technical side of your question, the word in the 10 commandments isn't kill, as we so often read. The better translations read, thou shalt not murder, and there is a world of difference. God sometimes commands us to kill but never to murder. I answered this without reading the rest of the post so it is probably a repeat.
673 | Speaking in tongues...not saved? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 36513
Nedra, the person that you say is so adamant about people speaking in tongues in order to be saved, could you please ask her where the opposite of the good news is in the Bible? The reason why I ask is because I go to a very large nondenominational church that has close to fifty people in it that can't speak a word of any language but they are real good at sign language, which is a continuous thing while our pastor is teaching from the Word. Maybe they should all be informed that Christ didn't die for them and that they can't be saved because they can't speak in tongues; or maybe Peter was wrong when he expressed himself in Acts. Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: I hope you know that I am being fatuous, but that's how ludicrous her thinking when it comes to tongues and salvation. I think that Paul explained it all very well in his letter to the Corinthians along with a summation for those that didn't believe what he said. 1 Cor. 14:36-38 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? 37If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. 38But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. I hope this helps and you might say it to her with a little more love then thy way I wrote it out, since you will be talking to her face to face. 674 | Who can refute reasoning? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 37032
People have been responding on this forum with what they think is within the responsibility of those that believe, in order to be saved; the options are varied. The big ones are baptism, communion, speaking with tongues and faith with works. All of these can be eliminated by one verse or another when one uses the Scripture as the final authority. I would like to ask if there is any way to eliminate what I have to suggest, that comes from Isaiah. Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. The one thing that cannot be eliminated from the process of salvation that is found in Isaiah, is REASON! We all know that God has provided salvation to all through His Son. John wrote his portion of the gospel so that we might have life by believing in Jesus. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. The only thing that one must include in order to have salvation is the ability to think, or as God said through Isaiah, the ability to reason. The process of reasoning is none meritorious action on the part of the one doing the thinking and the Holy Spirit guides the thought process. As long as a person has the ability to reason they can be saved. The ability to do anything but reason it excluded and that takes care of all the other scenarios otherwise God is a respecter of persons, which we know is false. Reasoning is the only possible option for the thief on the cross because he can do nothing, other then think. A person could be buried hundreds of feet under ground in a mine and unable to talk to anyone, be baptized, speak in tongues or anything else, but if they can still reason, God is able to save their soul, if they are willing to believe in Jesus Christ and trust in Him for their eternal future. Can anyone refute this with Scripture? CDBJ |

I want to thank you for your intellectual response to my question! The purpose of the question was to stimulate the futile thinking of those that hold to the views that were mentioned. I don't suppose that you even gave that a thought since you were so busy thinking up Scripture to add to your comment as a rebuttal. I would assume that the question probable stepped on your toes since you likely hold to one of the views mentioned; to come back with such a response as, where are you; that must to be a classic for sure? When you reach the right age and if you ever think of going to law school at night don't give up your day job! James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. I hope that someone got something from the post. CDBJ |

Hi Zach, we all make mistakes or we wouldn't be here; please don't quite on the forum I enjoy your post, try to look at it like Paul would. Philip. 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Stick in there you will be the better for it, forget it and move on. If you quit on us that will be a feather in the enemy's hat, he loves to neutralize us in all that we do. Some people can't afford good clothes and I can accept that, but what blows my mind, and there is no excuse for it, is when a man walks into the house of the Lord and doesn't take his hat off; that gets under my skin pretty bad. We have five services on Sunday the last one is for those that want to be casual in dress so no one feels out of place. My wife and I have been going to Sunday school class in the morning then back in the evening because the service right after our class in the morning is packed to the point that there is standing room only. I hope all went well with your son, even though we are believers in the World we are not exempt from the diseases that have come about as a result of sin. My son's bald head was self inflected, he went to basic training between his junior and senior year of high school. He came home from boot camp just before school started with his head shaved and loved it from then on, oh well. He was the only senior in the school that had been through basic training plus he had a black belt in karate so no one said much about the baldhead. |
