1 | rapture or tribulation? | Bible general Archive 3 | SuQ | 175266
I am a long-time Believer in the rapture. Recently, I have been challenged with the idea that believers would endure some if not all of the tribulation. I have researched this extensively and am looking for comprehensive understanding not the usual 'pat' answers. (My own arguments: 1. The last trumpet is toward the end of the trib. 2. Noah was protected from destruction. 3. God is cyclical so where in the Word does it show that God's people escaped from past cataclysmic world destruction other than Noah. 4. Christ's second coming is to pour out His wrath on the world. 5. We are not appointed to wrath.) Any input?

I also was a long time believer in the rapture before the tribulation. However, every time I read "the last trump shall sound..." I couldn't get past that. Everything in Revelation happens before the last trump, exect God's wrath, if you believe the book was written in sequence. Some don't. I have to say I lean toward a post-trib rapture now. This is a disputable matter and all sides can show scripture to "prove" their belief. My only concern about some who hold the pre-trib rapture is that they don't feel they need to be concerned about what happens during the tribulation because they won't be here. What will happen to their faith if they aren't raptured out before hand. That's what I worry about. But If I am raptured out before the tribulatation, I'm not gonna say, "No Lord, I can't do that because I don't believe in it." I'll go, happily all the way. We just need to be looking and stand firm in our faith, so we are ready to give our lives, if need be. |

Hi Shamrock, Even us "pre-tribbers" recognize that persecution may come before the 70th week, as it has indeed come to hundreds of thousands elsewhere in the world. I live in Southern California, where persecution is virtually non-existant, but there is much of the world that is actively and violently persecuting the Church, and we shouldn't think that we will be immune so long as the antichrist isn't in power yet. I would question whether in fact the Scriptures "prove" opposing views, there is only one that is correct, and all others will mishandle certain texts. We watch, we wait, we present our bodies a living sacrifice. Love in Christ, Mark |

Mark, I agree with you, there is only one Truth, but there are many different interpretaions. Man is like that, ya know? There are no contradictions in His Word, except those man-made. I couldn't get past the last trump, so I lean toward the post-trib but would naturally prefer the pre-trib. I agree, we watch, we wait, we present our bodies a living sacrifice. God Bless, Pat |
