1 | Every nation from Noah's son? | Bible general Archive 2 | EdB | 122783 | ||
ljw9292 This seems to be getting complicated. God created man (Adam and Eve), man sinned and the curse of sin fell upon man. Man procreated but became exceedingly wicked and God destroyed all man except Noah and his sons in the flood. So yes we are all are descendants of Noah having been created by God through Adam and Eve. Abraham found favor with God because of his faith. God made a covenant with Abraham which we know as the Old Covenant. Abraham’s descendants became partakers of that Covenant and later became known as Hebrews (wanders) or Jews (ones who live in Judah). Those of us that weren’t direct descendants of the Abraham were known as Gentiles. God promised to send a Messiah to save His people once and for all. God sent his son Jesus (the promised Messiah) to die for the sins of the world, both Jew and Gentile. God made a promise with Jesus at all that believed and call upon Jesus as Lord and Savior would have eternal life. That is called the New Covenant. We become partakers of the New Covenant when we realize we are dead in sin and need a Savior and accept and trust in Jesus Christ for that Salvation. I hope this simplifies the situation. EdB |

No, it began with Jacob. Ishmael is Abraham's (Abram at the time) son by Sarah's handamiden. He is not in the chosen line. See 16th chapter of Genesis Praise the Lord! Norm |

Okay! Now I see your point your absolutely correct. The line of chosen went from Abraham through Isaac and Jacob(Israel) and on through the generations. Ismael and his lineage is not part of that. EdB |
