Thanks Rowdy:There was no scripture, specifically. God speaks of His Chosen People and His favor with them, yet they turn against Him in every instance, since creation. He seems to speak of them in a totally different way than with others, yet He says we are all equal when we accept Him. Does Genesis only record the births of the Jewish lineage? Where did the people from Nod come from? Wasn't Noah Jewish, therefore, his offspring would have been too. So wouldn't that make all of us part Jewish? Call me confused?

I always start with the easy. In your list of questions, the easiest is that of Noah as a Jew?!? I take it you're kinda new at studying your Bible. The Jewish nation didn't really get started until after the "rescue" from bondage of Egypt by Moses. Then this large (est million or more) group of Israelites proceeded after the wondering in the desert to Canaan, the promised land and conquered it. But this was about 450 years after it was promised to them through the life and promises of God to Abraham. Abraham was born several generations after Noah. Noah lived in what the scholars call the Patriarchial age, that is before God gave any specific law, at least in writing. He did this with the issuance of the Ten Commandments to Moses and then Moses came up with all the other commands from God in the organization of the rest of the Law of Moses. And like you've mentioned the OT is filled to overflowing with a tremendous amount of disobedience and some small occasions of obedience, just like mankind since that time. We took the perfect church of our Lord with the divinely guided Apostles and the simple but firm leadership and we as a planet went through the apostacy and were led astray by Satan. The church even went so far off track as to make a mere human being the Pope of the Catholic faith, and allowed him to declare himself equal to God. To make a very long story short, we went through the Reformation wherein Luther and others were hoping to have the Catholic leadership correct itself and reform. But alas it never has happened. Then we went through the Restoration period in which a great number of men pleaded with their fellow men on both sides of the Atlantic for a true return to the basic guiding principles found in God's Word, most especially the NT. So you see it's basically NOT in man's nature as a whole planet to stick for very long to God's Word or to His Will as we're told in Prov 14:1 The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands. 2He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, But he who is perverse in his ways despises Him. 3In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride, But the lips of the wise will preserve them. 4Where no oxen are, the trough is clean; But much increase comes by the strength of an ox. 5A faithful witness does not lie, But a false witness will utter lies. 6A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, But knowledge is easy to him who understands. 7Go from the presence of a foolish man, When you do not perceive in him the lips of knowledge. 8The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit. 9Fools mock at sin, But among the upright there is favor. 10The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not share its joy. 11The house of the wicked will be overthrown, But the tent of the upright will flourish. 12There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. I've discussed this subject before. As I've mentioned, I'm very concerned about the continued divergence from God's Will we see prevelent in America. Just insert America and Roman Empire into the Search function at the right of your screen and you'll get many such posts on this subject. Can we turn this situation around? You bet we can but ONLY with God's help. So will we repent like Ninevah to Jonah's message or will we ignore the message as given to the Romans in that book from Paul, Chapter 1? Who could know but God Himself? As to your other questions: Read the story of Ruth as she was a gentile and not only became a Jew, she became a part of the very linage of Christ, the Son of God. "People from Nod?" You'll have to ask someone else. "All of us Jewish?" I can only quote from Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. I hope this helps and God bless. --Rowdy |

So basically, are you saying that God created "people" and the separation of Jew and Gentile came after sin and destruction and new beginning, after the flood, being every nation coming from the 3 sons of Noah?
4 | Every nation from Noah's son? | Bible general Archive 2 | Rowdy | 122779
The only time that we know for certain God created people was in the beginning with Adam and Eve. As far as we can tell, everyone else was born in the traditional manner, inlcuding all those who lived after the flood. So I guess within that context, the answer to your question is Yes, all people on earth came from the 3 sons of Noah. But in answer to your question about Jews and Gentiles, No, prejudice between these two groups didn't arise until after the establishment of Israel as a nation. Sometime between then and the coming of Christ, they had built up a tremendous amount of jealousy for their God and didn't want to share Him with the rest of the world. As a matter of fact, it looks as though the Jews were completely satisfied with keeping Christianity to themselves until the persecution forced them to flee. That and the advent of Paul as an Apostle seems to be the only reason Christianity spread to the rest of the world. God made this very plain in Acts 10, that He wanted the whole world to partake of the gift of salvation as provided in the Lord's Last Will and Testament. Two major events in this Chapter 10 support this view: the Holy Spirit's baptism of Corneilus and his household AND Peter's vision. You still haven't stated what exactly are you looking for ultimately with this discussion. Could you elaborate? God bless. --Rowdy |

I guess what I am looking for is a reason for existing. If God created Adam and Eve as the perfect human beings He wanted to fellowship with, and "if" they were the beginning of "God's Chosen People",therefore Jewish, I was concerned about not being able to be with Him, no matter how much I love Him and want to do what is right. I know Jesus is the Christ and I believe in Him and I want to be as close to Him as the "Chosen Ones" can. I wanted to know "why" they are so special that they are considered His people, and no matter how much they sin and don't believe in Jesus as the Messiah, He will still accept them in the end and the nation of Jews will be saved, no matter what,I THINK.

ljw9292 Once again your getting complicated. First man was created at the pleasure of God, to be in fellowship with God, to worship and adore God. That is inborn in all of us. Man will always worship something. However man allowed temptation to lead him to sin. The sin of Adam broke relationship with God. However God continued to reach out to man but finally had to destroy all humanity in the flood. However Noah had found favor with God and God continued to fellowship with Noah. Later Abraham found favor with God by his faith and God promised him and his descendants many things. The children of Abraham and his son’s Isaac and Jacob (Israel) became known as God chosen people and are called Hebrews or Jews. God made a covenant with Abraham detailing these promises this is Old Covenant. Part of the that covenant was the promise of Messiah Who would remove the curse of sin from all that believed. That promise was not just to Abraham and his children but to all that would believe. Romans 10:11-13 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." [12] For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. [13] For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Today all that come to saving knowledge of Jesus Christ are children of God Romans 8:15-16 ... but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." [16] The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, Your concern that the Jews will be saved is based on the promise made to Abraham in the Old Covenant. God is faithful and will keep His promise. However we should not worry about them for our salvation is also provided for. Perhaps if you read the story of the prodigal son, the brother that served his father was concerned about his brothers reward. Also read the story in Luke 20:1 - 16 where those that labored all day received what they were promised but those that labored only a few hours received the same. Instead of worrying about why they get saved we should rejoice in our salvation. Perhaps you need to rethink your salvation you almost make it sound like it is burden, something you are suffering through to have eternal salvation. Salvation is not a burden, it is not a hindrance it should be a blessing something you want to share not simply endure. Perhaps your eyes remain on the world and the thing it promises instead of fixed on Jesus. Salvation should not be a departure from what is fun, exciting, fulfilling into a life of ho hum existence. Salvation should launch us into a whole new life where hope, joy and peace abound. Where the promises are true and enjoyment of them does not lead to hangovers, foggy memories, hurts and fears, broken lives, broken families, unrealized goals. EdB |

I was concerned about not being able to be with Him, no matter how much I love Him and want to do what is right. I wanted to understand the relationship He has with the Jewish nation. I have no jealousy or thinking I am anything so special, which God should shine His everlasting light on and give none to anyone else. You make it sound like that is what I meant. I love everybody and pray that I can somehow lead as many to Christ as I can, but I want to know that what I am telling them is true. I feel most unworthy of any unmerited favor from God and yet I know that is exactly what brings us to Him. I have a burden alright, how to bring others to Him, in truth.

ljw9292 I'm sorry I preceived something you say is not true. However many in the world today blame the jews for Jesus' death and resent God's desire to fulfill the first covenant with them. That said let me also say you do have a place in in kingdom of God. That place was bought and paid for with the blood of Jesus. If you call Jesus Lord and Savior then you can be assured your eternity is set. EdB |

I don't blame the Jews for Jesus' death. I know that no one could have taken His life until it was time for him to die. His purpose for becoming God incarnate was to shed His blood to save us. I do not resent God's desire to fulfill the covenant with them, it shows He is the same yesterday, today and forever, and His love is true. That being the case I rest assured I am indeed a child of the King. Still believing I am as filthy rags when I come to Him, no matter how good I believe I might be. Thanks for your input, it has been interesting to see how others believe and think.

ljw9292 Wait one minute we are not filthy rags. We are joint heirs with Jesus. Romans 8:17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. The filthy rags is our righteousness (Isaiah 64:6 ... And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;...), but we don't go before the Lord in our rigtheousness we go before him in the righteousness imputed to us by Jesus Christ. The word says in 2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. And we become a 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; Be bold! Be joyful, for you are a chosen son of the Lord God. EdB |

If I may interject here. I read both your's and ljw9292's note above and I think I have to agree with both of you. Let me explain. When it comes to our own valuation of our life and our actions, we all tend to feel like the woman in Matt 15:22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed." 23But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, "Send her away, for she cries out after us." 24But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." 25Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" 26But He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs." 27And she said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." 28Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour. But when we realize that we have Christ as our advocate with our Father, we read in Eph 3:1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles-- 2if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, 3how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, 4by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), 5which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: 6that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, 7of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power. So it all boils down to a matter of attitude and complete submission of our will to His Will. We see this further contrasted in Romans 7:13-25. On one hand we feel like worthless "filthy rags" but thanks be to God, we don't have to keep on thinking that way. We can look up to Heaven, place our hand in our Father's and KNOW for a concrete fact He's got a Home waiting for us forever. Hope this helps and God bless. --Rowdy |

Agreed while yet in sin we come humbly before the Lord seeking forgiveness due to our sinful state and unworthiness. But once we are in Christ we are no longer lost sinners but rather adopted sons and daughters. However we should never forget God is God and due all respect, honor and glory. The point then is that we don't think ourselves so unworthy but now realizing how very much more God is worthy we are humbled. In other words we are humbled and awed by the magnificence and glory of God. Yes and if compared to Him we would appear as filthy rags. EdB EdB |
