1 | FEAR OF THE LORD MEANING | Bible general Archive 2 | Reformer Joe | 95656 | ||
With a proper understanding of God's holiness, we should stand in complete awe, and even fear when we understand our lack of holiness by comparison. I know that in Christ I have peace with God (Romans 5:1), but I still know that knowledge of his holiness should close my mouth as it did Job's or "undo" me as it did the prophet Isaiah. Read Isaiah 6 and Revelation 1 to get a good idea of what godly fear looks like and what brought it about. Psalm 33 also gives us a good idea of why we should stand in awe of his omnipotence. Read those chapters, taking into account that it is the real, true and living God being described there. "Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him." --Psalm 33:8 --Joe! |

Hi Reformer Joe, When I think of Psalm 33:8 I think of the Spirit. When I think of the Lord God and the Lord Jesus I know that they are one Lord. Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people whom He has chosen for **His own inheritance." Psalm 33:9, "For **He spoke, and it was done;..." Matthew 8:16b, "...and **He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill in order that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, "He Himself took our infirmities, and carried away our diseases." John 10:30, "I and the Father are one." We can tell NEWBIBLESTUDENT to continue reading Psalm 33 to understand that if we trust in His holy name then we do not feel scared but we hope for His lovingkindness and look to be His own inheritance. Psalm 34:7, "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear **Him, And rescues them." Psalm 34:1, "I will bless the Lord at all times; **His praise shall continually be in my mouth." BTW, hello Cyclist, I don't remember hearing from you lately. Let us exalt His name together. From the heart, Ray |
