You are trying to twist around to get out of a commanment that God has wanted from the begining. Jesus re-emphasises this when He said, Adultery in the Heart 27 "You have heard that it was said to those of old,[1] "You shall not commit adultery.'[2] 28But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. The commanments the Old Testement still hold true in the New Testement. The only difference is how we go about being saved. The Jews had to give blood sacriices once a year but Jesus died once for all. But gaining redemption through Christ blood has nothing to do with marraige and divorce. This scripture that you made reference to 1 Corinthians 7 Keep Your Marriage Vows 10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 12But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. 13And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. 15But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. Says that we are not under bondage in such cases. But this doesn't mean they are divorced or no longer married. For it says if the unbeliever departs. People separate everyday but they are still very much married. This verse is simple saying that the believer does not have to comply with the unbeliever and go along with them. For a Christians first responsibility is to serve Christ and do what is right in Gods eyes. But is know way means that the believer must stay unmarried for since they are both still married and the unbeliever goes to be with another then the believer may divorce them on the grounds of adultery and fornication thus complying with Gods law. This is the only way for divorce to be handled in accordance with what the bible says. Jesus said it best when He said, "except for fornication". If you take 1 Cor 7 and turn it into what you want to say to go along with your lifestyle then you make the bible contradict itself and therefore make Jesus a lier. Not to mention the fact that all scripture came thru the Holy Spirit, so that mean that He couldn't get His story straight either. No that is not what happened, but man would like to think that to justify their actions. Raven |

Raven, You write that the commandments of the Old Testament still hold true in the New Testament. I strongly disagree, but you obviously desire to cling to your convictions instead of the verses that I shared with you. Don't forget to take your animal sacrifice to the temple this Sabbath (this is commanded in the Old Testament) and to check for circumcisions at the door (another Old Testament commandment). I will move on. But, before I go, let me share these scriptures one more time: For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM." - Gal 3:10 However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "He who PRACTICES them shall LIVE by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us..." - Gal 3:12,13 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But NOW that faith has come, WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER A TUTOR. - Gal 3:24,25 For through the Law I DIED TO THE LAW, so that I might LIVE TO GOD. - Gal 2:19 It was for FREEDOM that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. - Gal 5:1 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. - Gal 5:13 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. - John 1:17 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers--and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine. - 1 Tim 1:8-10 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. - Romans 10:4 Under grace, ChristLifer2001 |

You call yourself ChristLifer, and yet you do not comply with the commandments that He gave us. John 12 48He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 49For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak." RAVEN |
