Many things apply today .. most of all the entire Bible. Also, what is the definition of the first word you entered ... it starts with g. Do you know it is violating the 10 Commandments and is offesive to me as well? |

Is golly a bad word too? I think that's being a tad legalistic. There are people who truly used to curse (I was one) and when you say things like gee is violating 10 commandments and offensive when we used to really violate the 10 commandments and were truly offensive before, it makes like a why bother attuitude, esp. if someone is a new Christian or maybe even just thinking about it. I sincerely believe Jesus is more forgiving than you in that catagory.
3 | "Babylon the Mother of False Religions" | Rev 17:5 | Searcher56 | 76238
Yes, it is. It is not legalist to be concerned about how His name is abused. It is part of our culture's normal language ... most do not care. But, if we would abuse Allah'a, Buddah's name, for example ... their followers would not tolerate it. We need to do what God wants and teach people what is correct, with tact. I believe I have. I also believe you need to ask for forgiveness ... most of all from God. Searcher |

I just don't see where golly or gee is abusing God. But maybe we could say Beee or Aaaaaa for Budda or Allah but I doubt anyone would get the connection. :)
5 | "Babylon the Mother of False Religions" | Rev 17:5 | Searcher56 | 76248
I suggest you read the dictionary ... One is "euphemism for Jesus" and the other "euphemism for God". |

Greetings Searcher! I had no idea about the meaning of these words. What should our response be to those who are ignorant? Shouldn't we endeavor to correct (teach) with love and respect? (Gal 6:1) WHEN we KNOW the "real meaning" of these offending words, then we ARE accountable. Thanks for the english lesson :) mommapbs |

7 | "Babylon the Mother of False Religions" | Rev 17:5 | Searcher56 | 76287
Mommapbs, Galatains 6:1-2 does apply. Tact is needed. There are words that we have heard and use ... but we don't know they are offensive to some. While we could use other expressions ... I don't think they are needed ... they are just extra words. Searcher |
