1 | Will you pray with me? | James 5:16 | sunnyhills | 160302
Yes, i was offended, but I repented. After some thought,i decided that we must be careful when we pick and choose our scriptures, after all, that is why we have so many denominations right? Rightly divide the word we are told, or else we could have something like this scenerio: Math 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. Add this one with it, Luke 10:37And He said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, GO AND DO THOU LIKEWISE. We have to be careful not to pull out of context the scriptures that we believe for our own personal convictions, together, to fit our own gospel. The gospel is very simple. It was written so that the simple could understand. So in my defense to your suggestion that my son was never a christian that had never recieved salvation,I will let the word speak for me: 2peter ch.1 v9-1 But he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off and hath FORGOTTEN that he was purged from his OLD SINS( my son claimed he was purged and lived the faith, not only in word, but in deed) Wherefore the rather, brethren give diligence to make your calling sure and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never FALL. (hmm..fall from what? He must have had something to fall from right? The grace he had been given?) 2Peter v17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, BEWARE lest ye ALSO, being LEAD AWAY with the ERROR of the wicked, FALL from your OWN STEDFASTNESS.(It is possible that he was led away by the error of the wicked) And to your judgement of the spiritual state of my family, I reply, Romans Ch14 v 4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God IS Able to make him stand.(Thank you Jesus that you came for unworthy sinners like me.) And for having A church to attend(building)We, his people are His church. Yes,Fail not to assemble yourselves together we are taught, I agree, and we do for many years. Jesus said, where 2 or more are gathered together in His name, he is in the midst of them. We must have fellowship, but not with an apostate church group. 1 John2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you and ye need not that ANY Man TEACH you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and IS truth, and is no lie, and even as it HATH taught you, ye shall abide in Him.(I am ever abiding in Him, and Him only do I trust in) And last, but not least, 1corith 10v12 Wherefore let him that THINKETH he standeth TAKE HEED LEST HE FALL. The gospel is so simple brother, but spiritual warfare is not, blessings, sunny |

No hyper-individualistic understanding As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. (NASB) 1 John 2:27 Many hold to the strange notion that: The best way to interpret the Bible is to read the text and whatever comes to mind first must automatically be the right interpretation. '"You have no need for anyone to teach you." Both "you's" are plural and refer to the believing community as a whole; there is no ground here for a hyper-individualistic understanding of the Gospel wherein the views of other believers and the gathering of believers together are considered unimportant' (Jewish New Testament Commentary, David H. Stern, Jewish New Testament Publications, Inc., 1992). Translation: If you think that YOU (singular) "need not that ANY Man TEACH you", then you are very much mistaken. As for your remark about spiritual warfare: NASB Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Translation: DocTrinsograce is not your enemy. |

Exactly, i was not refering to doc as an enemy. I was refering to the spiritual forces against a 17 yr old boy.

Wow - i have jus started to use this forum and am appaled at the self righteous and moral high ground taken towards someone needing to cry out to other Christians to share in their grief and angst. Where is your pastoral foundation? How would Jesus respond to Sunny? Do we need to have judgement on lifestyle? Do we need to answer such pain with clever use of scripture? Sunny, you need prayer, and you will get it. Many understand what this feels like. Many know that you need to feel Jesus' presence and His oversihght on the situation. may you find God's peace. L |

Hi loobylight, I took the responses in a completely different light:-) I think applaed is too strong a word! Have you considered that you might have read these "self righteous and moral high ground" replies, wrong or out of context? Sometimes people merely want to get a reply they are looking for?- i.e., they're looking for sympathy! An objective response may have been taken as too direct- i.e, empathy.
