1 | does God know all things? Genesis 22:12 | James 2:21 | imuvhim | 80205
"Abraham's offering of Isaac demonstrated the genuineness of his faith and the reality of his justification before God. James is emphasizing the vindication before others of an man's claim to salvation." I'm sorry I'm critical but how is this so? This doesn't make sense to me. Just reading the verse makes sense. And also the first line of the explanation makes sense, but not the second. The explanation seem to undo what James said. James don't only emphasize the vindication before others, but also before God. The good question was ask why God said, 'now I know.' This not about vindication before others, but before God. No matter what man think, all that matters is that God know our faith. Unless it is important to be menpleasers. The only kind of faith that matter is an active or obeying one. We must count the cost of being an disciple even before we decide to build the tower. Faith count the costs and repents. When God sees faith then he says of sinner 'now I know' and justifies. 2 | does God know all things? Genesis 22:12 | James 2:21 | Ray | 80217
Hi imuvhim, In regard to the "now I know" it should be noted that it is the Angel NKJ] of the Lord that is speaking. It is difficult to understand the blend of the triune God here with the word "Me". Genesis 22:11, "But the angel [Angel, NKJ,] of the Lord called to him from heaven, and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." And he [He, NKJ] said, "Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me." Yes it is the 'angel of the Lord', but doesn't it go on to say it is the Lord? I have learned this maybe Christ pre incarnate? Am I understanding your point?
4 | does God know all things? Genesis 22:12 | James 2:21 | Ray | 80321
Hi imuvhim, Yes, you are understanding my point. That is why I capitalize Angel in verse 11 and He in verse 12. Genesis 22:12, "...for NOW I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me." Galatians 3:8, "NOW that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "The righteous man shall live by faith."" From the heart, Ray |
