Been reading through some of the answers to this post - not all of them. So many long hard to read answers, some junk theology and a few corny jokes. Kennyittis, the simple answer to your questions are - IMO and assuming, of course, you are sincere and telling the truth : Q1. are these words a known language? A. certainly known to someone somewhere if only God and angels - ref. "though I speak with the tongues of men or of angels..." - 1 cor. 13 i.e. tongues can human or angelic languages Q2. did i speak in tongues? A. yes Q3. if so why cant i speak tongues when i want? A. you can, whenever you want - it works by using it in faith I also suggest you bravely ignore any anti-tongues, tongues is of the devil, tongues is not for today etc. type answers - they are all junk theology with zero bibical basis Tongues is a gift, a prayer/praise language, and using it is an act of faith. It's for building up your spiritual strength or edifying yourself. mark 16 "And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues..." Again I assume you speak the truth and are asking a sincere question. hope this helps ;-) |

To Q1 - what language does God or the angel speak to men? In one they understand. There is no heavenally language - unless it is Samoan :-) ... plsu it says "man (first) and angels" ... both are understood by the listener. | ||||||

Your answer is a pure supposition. Tongues is not speaking to men at all but to God. As the scriptures of 1 Cor. 14 clearly state. If your meaning is literal - there are no heavenly languages - then this is your opinion only and quite frankly a blatant presumption - obviously there are heavenly languages since angels are mentionned as having at least 1 tongue different than a language used by men. Angels speak all earthly languages plus any of heavens languages. How many languages there are in heaven is outside both bibical and reasonable scope. To state that there are no heavenly languages is pure unverifiable speculation. To suppose that all heaven speaks English, Hebrew or Greek or whatever, is just ludicrous. I certainly hope that's not what you are implying or saying. |
