1 | Why do I want to speak in tongues? | 1 Cor 13:1 | justme | 212373
flyman: If I follow the "logic" then everyone who has not spoke in tongues is unsaved, correct? If there is a contradiction in scripture, then how do we know who to believe if some other writters don't seem to agree? If there are contradictions, then there must be things we can't trust? If all the above is true, how can we believe any of the Bible? If there are contradictions then that means there are errors in the Bible? This all seems logical does it not? May I say that you have to come to the point that your logic is nor correct or the Bible does NOT have contradictions. flyman, you need to come to the conclusion that there must be more to understanding Scripture than you are aware of. The key point being you can either trust the Bible completly, or you can continue to find contradictions and errors and thus call into question the birth, death and resurrection of Christ. Because you mentioned tongues, this is mentioned in Acts, and Pauls writtings as well. Following the logic you stated, then because Jesus never even discussed this subject so then tongues is subject to be a contradiction. The point I am trying to bring to your attention is what you have said may seem logical to you, but you are lacking a solid foundation upon which to make logical statements. Here are a few places in Scripture that shoulf help you have a better understanding if Scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20. May I suggest you take the New Testament book by book and read them. You will soon see that you have taken logic in Scripture out of context. justme |

2 | Why do I want to speak in tongues? | 1 Cor 13:1 | flyman172 | 212377
Dear justme, Don't you realize the arguments you are using were the same used by the majority of so-called believers long ago? When Jesus arrived on the scene the establishment refused to believe that He was the Son of God, why, because of their faulty human interpretation of the scriptures. Copernicus and Galileo promoted the theory of a round earth but the establishment refused to believe it so, why, because they erroneously believed that the scriptures made the earth to be the center of the universe. What other reason do you have to explain the fact that we as professed Christians fail to experience the signs of believers and the gifts of the spirit? Is it not possible that we see things through faulty human wisdom? flyman |

It is His word that is truth (John 17:17)! You cannot worship Him in truth if you reject His word and set yourself up as the standard of truth! I would urge you to find a local church with godly men and women that could teach you and help you understand how to properly study the word. We all need help sir, some more then others, and no one completely understands it all. But with all due respect sir you are so far off the mark you need help and here you only reject the help offered. Perhaps in a local church you will be more open to allowing those who can help you do so. Your post speak for themselves and leave much to be desired regarding proper understanding. Context is indeed missing from your understanding of scripture. And, well your logic betrays you sir. It has lead you unto error even to the point you have set yourself up to be lord of the word of God to decide what parts are acceptable and what are not. You have clearly demonstrated this with your post. Steve |
