1 | Why do I want to speak in tongues? | 1 Cor 13:1 | Cody Mac | 212357
Errr. What, I dont understand why you posted this. If you do not speak in tongues it doesnt mean you are not saved but one must be saved to do it. There are thousands of christians out there that are not able to be directly involved with ministering to the world where a gift of speaking in tongues would be needed and it does not mean they are not saved. Do I believe in his promises, yes with my whole heart. Do I have that gift, honestly I dont know. I have never been in a situation where it would be needed, I have never addressed such a diverse crowd it would be needed. I am going to Africa in six months so I will see I guess.

God's day to you, All those who go to people who speak another language wish they had the gift of speaking in tongues. However, was it ever used in the Bible for evangelism? Even at Pentecost, I believed Peter spoke in Aramaic. I believe one thinks in their native tongue, then speaks in a tongue they have not studied. I just thought there could be a problem, when one doesn't think in the language of the hearer. When I speak Japanese, which I learned as a child, my thought pattern is different than it is in English. I believe the gift exists, but is not a gift that one MUST have to show they are saved. There are other gifts given at the Holy Spirit's will. Best wishes as you go across the sea, Searcher |
