Nothing can block us from God's love ... Start with verse 38 ... For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, |

Then why does Scripture say; John 15:9 Remain in My love. Joh 15:10 If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, Jude 1:21 keep yourselves in the love of God, and Isa 59:2 but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, so that he will not hear. |

3 | What is blocking us from God's love? | Rom 8:39 | hobbs | 181360
I believe the answer to your question may be found in the context of the chapter itself. True believers (those who believe and hold that the the Bible is the "WORD OF GOD"). 15:3 "You are already clean because of the word" ... True believers are those whom God has chosen... 15:16 "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain,...Branches cannot bear fruit if they are not connected to the vine! Therefore, Jesus is differentiating between true believers and those who merely profess themselves to be believers. |

I really don't see how that answers my question The verses I mentioned were not contrasting true believers with false believers. The verses were addressed to believers without distinction. Where do you find the contrast in the verses I used? |

5 | What is blocking us from God's love? | Rom 8:39 | hobbs | 181378
Rom 5:5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. I ,for one, do not love God to the degree and constancy that He is deserving of. However, I am not without hope. The verses which you used seem to put the burden of maintaining our relationship with Christ squarely on the shoulders of the believer. That is to say that our security in Christ depends on our ability to love Him as we ought. To me that mindset leads inevitably to salvation through works. |

6 | What is blocking us from God's love? | Rom 8:39 | New Creature | 181441
We have a personal relationship with Christ. Is this relationship unilateral, or bi-lateral. For that matter are any relationships except self-love uni-lateral? The following words come straight from the mouth of Jesus John 15:9 "As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you. Remain in My love. John 15:10 If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commands and remain in His love. In verse 9 we see the command to "Remain in His love" In verse 10 we are told how we remain in His love. Obedience does not lead to salvation by works. Obedience is merely the by-product of having been saved. It's what a genuine saved person naturally does. Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them. TitusĀ 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. James 2:17 faith, if it have not works, is dead James 2:20 faith without works is useless James 2:26 faith apart from works is dead. |
