1 | Who does the Father draw to Christ? | John 6:44 | slide_m46 | 76031
Is their scriptural support for the concept that the Father draws EVERYONE to Christ, or just some of us? I am leaning toward the idea, through intense study, that the Father does not draw all of us to Him. If He did draw us to Him, how could we as puny humans resist the will of the Almighty God who created all things? Also, since some are obviously NOT saved, if Christ died for all, then regarding those who are NOT saved His Holy and perfect sacrifice would have at least in part, relative to those lost, be a failure. I cannot believe that Christ's sacrifice was anything other than a perfect success, and hence He will lose none that the Father has given Him..consequently, I am wondering if He did die for all, or for "all the Father gave Him. Does anyone have any thoughts to share that might help me to understand this better? |

2 | Who does the Father draw to Christ? | John 6:44 | Charliechuck | 212749
Well, it looks like I started something interesting. Spurgeon was asked once how he divided between free will and election. His response was, "I never separate two friends." It is a mystery, however, I lean toward Brother Morant. The word "all" I think is "pas" (G3596-Strongs) and it sure seems to mean each and every, the whole, everyone, all things, everything." It can also mean "some of all types." One would have to know the tense etc of the Greek language to interpret in which sence it was meant here in John 12:32. I don't know it. However, Strong's Greek dictionary defines this "pas" as to mean, including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:--all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, ever, every (one, way), as many as, no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever." I'll let you brains figure it out. Thanks for the feedback! |
