I love that name you have..."New Creation" The real definition there means a type of creature that has never existed before. But that is another topic. A good topic but still another one. In reference to your question about predestination: “Is a man predestinated by God to salvation because he believes in Christ or is he enabled to believe in Christ because he is predestinated.” I look at it this way. First God is huge. He is in the past present and future. In other words He is not in time. That can make me tired just to think about it. We cant understand it truly because we are locked into a three dimensional world. Past, Present, future, as well as height, width, and depth. So there are things that we can read and yet still not grasp with our current surroundings. Someday we will……yeeeeehaaaaaaa! Anyway, I did a quick search on my e-sword as to the word predestined and predestine. Here is what I came up with. Predestined here means: according to Strongs Greek ref G4309 G4309 From G4253 and G3724; to limit in advance, that is, figuratively- predetermine: - determine before, ordain, predestinate. Eph 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as HE CHOSE US IN HIM BEFORE THE FOUNDATON OF THE WORLD, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He PREDESTINED us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of HIS WILL, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. Now I will answer your question the best I can. This is a trick question. You didn’t mean it but let me explain. “Is a man predestinated by God to salvation because he believes in Christ” Answer yes. God is not in time and he will cause a man to believe in Christ because he knows that he will choose too out of his free will that he has been given. God knows our thoughts before we think them. He doesn’t say OOOOPPPs! I thought he was going to say yes! And now: or is he enabled to believe in Christ because he is predestinated.” God enables him to believe by making sure that he hears the Gospel knowing before the foundation of the world that he will believe. So the full answer to your question is …….yes! The most amazing story of predestination is Christ on the cross. Christ said “if it is your will take this cup from me” God said no. But what really blows me away here is that man thought he was in control. Christ goes to the cross. The disciples scattered. It seemed quite literally that all “HELL’ had broken out. In Gods PREDESTINATION he showed incredible power, wisdom and control that is WAY beyond our ability to comprehend. The lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. Man was out of control and God did his most amazing, loving and powerful work with Christ on the cross to forgive those who put him on the cross. I won’t even try and figure out how he did it. I have trouble sometimes just balancing my check book! Hope all this helps. This is my first post here. Be blessed with all spiritual blessing in him. Rather receive them. They are yours for the taking. Praism -pronounced Praise Him! Other scriptures that I looked over are: Act 4:27-28 "For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose PREDESTINED to occur. Rom 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also PREDESTINED to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He PREDESTINED, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. Eph 1:10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him Eph 1:11-12 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been PREDESTINED according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. |
