1 | How to teach people to hear God's voice? | John 10:4 | DocTrinsograce | 137346
This is a metaphor. People don't literally hear the voice of Christ any more than they are literally sheep. God's speaks through the scriptures to the saved. Their salvation is evidenced by their obedience to the Word.
2 | How to teach people to hear God's voice? | John 10:4 | Bodie | 137407
Hi Doc I understand that this is a metaphor with the sheep but are you saying that God has been silenced since the Holy Spirit inspired these godly men to pen the Word that we call our Bile. If that is true then how can you and I read the Bible over and over and still grasp a different meaning from the same passage of scripture. It is because God is not silenced. The Holy Spirit causes His Word/Voice to come alive and tells us how to apply this Word or instructions, if you will, in our everyday life. You may say that is your conscious speaking. If you believe that God is your Creator then who is it that is causing your conscious to respond. It simply God speaking to you in a still small voice. (1 Kings 19:12) If you are not a confessing christian, meaning Christ born of a virgin, crucified on the cross, burried, and raised again on the third day, and now is sitting at the right hand of the Father forever interceding for you and I, then your conscious is subject to your beliefs. God created us to commune with Him so why would He be silent in a time when we need Him the most in our dark world. Please recieve this in the love in which it is sent. Thanks for your response. 3 | How to teach people to hear God's voice? | John 10:4 | DocTrinsograce | 137427
Hi, Bodie... This is a sensitive subject these days. People need to a much more elevated view of the scripture. However, folks tend to want mystical experiences. Christ said, "A wicked and perverse generation seeks a sign." You might want to see my comments in ID 137425. I agree, with what you are saying. The Holy Spirit is an absolutely essential ingredient in any proper understanding of scripture. Contrawise, any understanding of scripture that is incorrect, is not one arrived at with the aid of the Holy Spirit. Finally, the Holy Spirit will not grant an utterly unique understanding of a passage of scripture to a single person and withhold that understanding from everyone else. However, *every* time the Holy Spirit ministers truth to us it is of an intensely personal nature. Sorry... I'm feeling crumby. I'll post later, brother. In Him, Doc |

4 | How to teach people to hear God's voice? | John 10:4 | Bodie | 137523
Hello Doc Sorry to hear that you have been ill. I will be praying for a speedy recovery for you. I'm new to this website but this is a blessing to be able to ask questions and share responses with other brothers and sisters. God is so awesome in His provisions. I'm not trying to isolate scripture or start a new doctrine but as people share with me about God not speaking or answering them it puts a burden on my heart because I know God is always wanting to communicate with His beloved children. What I was trying to find out was if there is instruction that could be given to help clear the spiritual channels, so to speak, or help them understand the manner in which He does communicate.
