Understanding God's overall program is difficult for some because we have been taught that we are "Jews". We are really neither Jew nor Gentile if we are born again...we are "new creatures". Paul was raised up by Jesus and given the gospel for the "new creatures". Paul does reiterate "some" of the LAW for us to follow. But, not ALL of it. Paul says that which you have learned, received, heard, and seen in me, Do! He constantly throughout his epistles say to follow him as he follows Christ. He constantly refers to "my gospel". He is not being arrogant...as a matter of fact, besides Jesus I never read of anyone so humble. Remember in Galatians , Jesus was born of a woman, UNDER the LAW. Jesus was a Jew...He had to keep and teach the LAW. But when He died, He did away with the LAW...it was a curse. My computer is down right now...it may be a while before I can get back if you have further questions. From my heart to yours, Bereaniam |

The Law was a curse? I don't think so. NASB Psalm 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth. NASB Psalm 119:151 You are near, O LORD, And all Your commandments are truth. NASB Psalm 19:9b The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether. New King James Version Psalm 19:7-11 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward. |

Yet it is clear that Paul believed that the law was a curse: Galatians 3:13 "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" I believe what he is saying is that all men were cursed under the law, because none could obey the law perfectly. Therefore men constantly lived in a state of sinfulness, requiring repeated sacrifices. Now that Christ has been made the perfect sacrifice, although we sin, we live in a state of sinlessness - not through our own righteousness, but by the covering of the perfect sacrifice of Christ. The law was perfect, but it had become a curse to imperfect mankind. Christ was perfect, yet the law cursed him, and this is the point at which the law was fulfilled that we might no longer live in the law, but live in faith. |

drtbloor, How is it that as you say even though we still sin that we live in a state of sinlessnes? This seems to be somewhat of a misnomer. I know and understand that the Christ in us ( Col 1:27) does not sin,we do. How can we say we live in a state of sinlessness when we blow it on a daily basis. 1 John 1:5-10 We dont choose to stay in our sin we can must repent. What say you? |

Oh it would be so wonderful if we were perfect, but we haven't reach that perfect state yet. we are striving daily to the perfection mark. God tell us to be ye perfect because he (God) is perfect and we are to be just like him. So even tho we might sin or run into a fault we are to stive for the perfected mark. And as the word of God tell us , "as you see the light walk there in." For this is the will of God. |
