1 | why say mingled with the seed of men? | Dan 2:43 | srbaegon | 133452
Hello Misty, I've checked ESV, NASB, and Amplified. None of these say "mingled with the seed of men." So I guess I need to know which translation you are using. It doesn't appear to be quite accurate here. Steve |

2 | why say mingled with the seed of men? | Dan 2:43 | believer 2004 | 133456
I use the king james version and have also checked with the original text. The correct translation is with. As your translation stands, what exactly do you think it would mean that the seeds wouldn't cleave together? Misty |

3 | why say mingled with the seed of men? | Dan 2:43 | srbaegon | 133459
Hello Misty, I checked several translations. "With" is literally correct here. The consensus of the few commentaries I looked at (Matthew Henry; Jamieson, Fausset, Browns; Adam Clarke, Ray Stedman) was that the iron was a form of government and the clay was man--an attempted mighty kingdom established entirely on man's principles. Basically, it's saying that this is doomed to failure from the beginning. Steve |

5 | how can gov. minglewith the seed of men? | Dan 2:43 | srbaegon | 133466
Hello Misty, Mingle means to form a bond or union. This type of government of men is called pure democracy. It has the illusion of strength, but it is brittle and destined to fail. The seed spoken of is men or mankind. It isn't that they will reproduce. It's just identifying who will do the mingling. Steve |

6 | how can gov. minglewith the seed of men? | Dan 2:43 | believer 2004 | 133472
I agree with that completely. However, that still doesn't explain why it says mingle with the seed of men. If it were only talking about a gov., it would have said mingle with men, not the seed of men. To me, it is saying that something is going to mingle with the seed of men, something that will not work, as in the case of the fallen angels, where the mixed seed caused giants and unprecendented evil, causing God to bring down judgement. Judgement is what is also going to be brought down in the endtimes, as well. I am not saying it has to be fallen angels. It could be cloning, or some other type of scientific experimentation. There was a scripture, (I will look it up,) That says that what God has not made, he will not except... Misty |

7 | how can gov. minglewith the seed of men? | Dan 2:43 | srbaegon | 133473
Hello Misty, The progeny or offspring you are searching for is the (allegedly) all-powerful government that will be established from this tenuous union of system and men. It's figurative language. Think back to the tower of Babel in Genesis. It's the same type of thing on a far greater scale. Steve |

8 | how can gov. minglewith the seed of men? | Dan 2:43 | believer 2004 | 133484
A government is a thing, and can not mingle with the seed of men. There were several different systems of government, and I don't recall any of them being referred to as mingling with the seed of men. When seed is used in the Bible, it is referring to reproduction,or people or beasts, as well as fallen angels, not systems.
9 | how can gov. minglewith the seed of men? | Dan 2:43 | srbaegon | 133486
Hello Misty, As I've already stated, this is figurative language. For instance, I've heard people use terms like "marry the two ideas." Obviously, ideas cannot marry, but we understand it to mean that these two ideas will be brought together. It's the same way here. It's a marriage of mankind with a governmental system to make a super-power. But that super-power cannot hold together because it's flawed from the start, being based on man. That super-power is the offspring (again figuratively) of the marriage between man and the governmental system. Steve |

The only reason that I have to disagree with your interpretation is that it is being explained what the image is, not symbolizing it. Misty |

Hello Misty, I don't have to give what is symbolized. It's in the text--the last in a series of great governmental powers. There's nothing else to it. Steve |
