Greetings Mark! Strictly speaking, I would say that Is. 14:1-23 refer to the king of Babylon. However, the commentator in my previous post makes the case that both kings could be one in the same. So, I'm not sure it really matters. :-) The fact that v. 24 changes focus with practically no notice to it would seem to support that view. I did check with one older commentator who thinks that the person in view may have been Nebuchadnezzar. I'm not sure if any exact identification is possible! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
