1 | Do altars belong in christian churches? | Ex 17:15 | John Reformed | 97891
Dear Gene, The altar should never be built in a NT church. We have the cross as the only symbol which we need. I'm concerned that the modern altar detracts from Christ's cross-work by symbolizing sacrifices beyond what our Lord has already accomplished on our behalf. John |

2 | Do altars belong in christian churches? | Ex 17:15 | GeneZ | 97916
One can not accomplish ANYTHING beyond what the Lord has already fulfilled on the cross. Bored believers missing the point (or impatient believers not able to wait for the Lord's next move) seem to always come up with these diversionary ideas that distract away from what they should already have known. But, they are God's servants, not mine. He must deal with us all as a Father. We all make mistakes as we go along. They can be a source for our growth, or for going backwards. Our volition is always called upon by God to decide where we want to stand with the Lord. Do we want to start playing games with God? And, make ourselves (with our own private interpretation) lord over our own lives? I believe in many cases impatience with God leads to false concepts. They resent God's requirement for waiting upon him and create something out of Scripture that pleases themselves in their natural thinking rather than suffer if need be, being required to wait upon the Lord for the real answer in His timing. Grace and peace, Gene |
