Hi, Lionstrong... Having the name of a thing is a kind of dominion. A label is the means by which we invoke the character and nature of a thing. It certainly represents the beginning of being able to envelope a thing intellectually. It is difficult to imagine our ability to domesticate animals without having the ability to reference their kind by a name by which they are called. I do not think that the naming of the animals was a matter of God taking some kind of shortcut. Rather the process of seeing, characterizing, and naming creatures brought man close to God's creation -- which thing increases God's glory. In Him, Doc |
