363 | felled tree Isaiah 11:1 | Is 11:1 | prayon | 33004
Greetings Lightning56, Verses 11-9 talk about how Assyria would be like a tree cut down at the height of its power. Judah, the royal line of David, would be like a tree chopped to its stump. But out of that stump a new branch would grow. The branch would be Jesus. He would be greater than the original tree and would bear much fruit. (Life Appl Bible commentary). prayon

365 | Satan? | Is 14:12 | prayon | 4104
You can get Satan from this verse because of the parallel between Lucifer and star of morning or as the New Revised Standard calls him Day Star. Also because the person here is too powerful to be any human king. However, Satan does not fit with the rest of the chapter.

367 | What does Isaiah 32:4 mean? | Is 32:4 | prayon | 132889
Greetings cpourcho and welcome to the forum. Isa 32:4 means exactly what it says. 32:1-8 are talking about a reign of righteousness. Verse 1 says that a king will reign in rightousness - they can only be referring to Jesus and talking about His millenial reign. At that time all of us will be perfected in our heavenly bodies including thoses who are rash in their thinking and their actions and those who stammer or stutter will be cured! prayon
368 | Explanation on Isaiah 40 vs 31 | Is 40:31 | prayon | 39559
To add just a little more to Shelly's answer: The 40th chapter of Isaiah a description of the character and the omnipotence of God. Verse 31 gives us the encouraging truth that because God is all powerful He can give strength to those who need it. prayon
369 | what would it be like to have god act on | Is 43:5 | prayon | 144740
Greetings shael, In verse 5a God tells us that we are not to fear for He is with us - God acts on your behalf in this way each and every day! He has protected you in ways you have no idea of. There were all kinds of things that Satan had planned for you that God intervened in on your behalf - Like the accident you were almost in the other day. The rest of this passage talks about when the Lord will gather His people together from all area of the earth and bring everyone back to Israel to live in the millenial kingdom with Jesus. We will exist only to praise Him. What a glorious day that will be! I can't even begin to find the words to describe how it will be to live with Jesus here on earth.... |

371 | Why is Israel called "Jeshurun"? | Is 44:2 | prayon | 8070
Nolan, Jeshurun is another name for Isreal which occurs only in poetry. Jeshurun is considered to be a term of endearment that may emphasize its root meaning of "upright". In this verse it is concerning the redemption and restoration of Isreal (according to Eerdmans Bible Dictionary). Another source that I have says that it refers to the people of Isreal. prayon
372 | God does create evil. | Is 45:7 | prayon | 47984
Greetings terry44! Excellent quesion! The evil or woe talked about in verse 7 refers to physical adversity not moral sin. The New King James Version refers to it as calamity. God is ruler over all. Our lives are sprinkled by both. We need the physical adversity to grow spiritually. prayon |

373 | The appearance of Jesus described? | Is 53:2 | prayon | 8068
Yes it does describe His physical appearance. Christ is portrayed as a handsome man in all paintings but in reality there was nothing that attractive in His physical appearance that would draw us to Him. If He had been a handsome man people could and would of miscalculated His importance. He attracted large crowds not on His appearance but on His salvation and healings. prayon
374 | Who hid their faces? | Is 53:3 | prayon | 171682
Hi Searcher, Is 53:3 is not that they literally hid their eyes. The prophet here, using the first person, spoke for his unbelieving nation's aversion to a crucified Messiah and their lack of respect for the incarnate Son of God. They did not see the truth that was before them. prayon |

375 | Please, a straight answer!!! | Is 53:5 | prayon | 90585
Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Surely He hath born our griefs - kholily means sickness and has to do with the body All sickness was taken on cross - He meets us where we are at and heals us so that we will hear Him And carried our sorrows - Makob: emotional pain; suffering and has to do with our soul. It refers to Mental suffering which deals with our mind Wounded for our transgressions - Pesha: breach of relationship and is related to the Spirit which is the real you Man / Sin relationship breached spiritually - Make Him Lord and breach restored Bruised for our iniquities - Avon: sin and has to do with the Spirit which is again the real you Past, present, and future - sin separated God; spiritual reconciliation Chastised for our peace - Shalom: peace; prosperity; wellness; safety wholeness; completeness Wholeness - about me; Completeness - fulfilling destiny - peace, et. His stripes we are healed - Rapha: healed - causative sense again has to do with the Body Healed - causes us to walk in health so we will serve Him These are 6 things that were prophesied about Jesus. It gives us the 6 areas that Jesus suffered in so that we can be healed. He did this 2000 years ago on the cross. I have been reading some of your posts and would like to recommend a book to you that I used in college. It is called Bible Faith Study Course by Kenneth Hagin. I have suffered from asthma most of my life. I could never do anything strenuous, I was never able to take PE. I remember a time when I could not walk from my car to my apartment. Not long after I took this course and went through the book I was healed. I can now run 2 miles in 25 minutes. I don't know what it will do for you - maybe nothing but it is worth a try. prayon |

Greetings idjd and welcome to the forum! There are numerous scriptures on healing - here a just a couple: Isa 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on Him; and with His stripes we ourselves are healed. Jer 30:17 I'll restore your health and heal your wounds," declares the LORD. Psa 147:3 He heals the broken-hearted, and binds up their wounds. 1Pe 2:24 Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so that freed from our sins, we could live a life that has God's approval. His wounds have healed you. Hope these help. prayon |

377 | I know God is all knowing | Is 55:8 | prayon | 19318
Greetings Towanda, You asked how God could of allowed this. I like the way that Billy Grahams daughter put it when asked by Bryant Gumbel: "For years we have told God we didn't want Him in our schools. We didn't want Him in our government and we didn't want Him in our finances and God was being a perfect gentleman in doing just what we asked Him to do. We need to make up our mind--do we want God or do we not want Him. We cannot just ask Him in when disaster strikes." God gave man free choice. When we make the choices God let's us reap the consequences of our choices. Unfortunetly others can also suffer because of our choices. A good question is where man was before this happened? God was there at the World Trade Center. He was at the Pentagon. He was with them at the plane crash in Pennsylvania. He was with those who got detained and didn't make it to work. He was there with those who didn't make it out who needed comfort. Man, however, was not concerned with what he needed to be concerned with - living Godly and praying for our land. Man was concerned with self. If America would of been on her knees praying for our country I doubt that the events on Sept. 11 would of happened. We can not expect God to be there if He is not asked. He is a loving and compassionate God but He is not a pushy God. We can be joyful in the fact that those innocent people did not die in vain. Many have turned back to the Lord while many others have turned to the Lord for the fist time because of this. Our country has become united for the first time in a long time. We have seen for the first time in many years prayer in the higher ranks of our leaders. God is truly in control! You said you are having a hard time understanding the bible. It is very hard to help you to understand without specific question. Please feel free to ask about anything you don't understand and we will be most happy to put it in prospective for you so that you can understand what God is saying. I must add, though, that the bible is the inspired word of God. He wrote it all. Nothing went into the bible that God did not put in there. prayon |

380 | Any insight on the life of Jeremiah? | Jeremiah | prayon | 144855
Greetings and welcome to the forum! Jeremiah did indeed have a great calling on his life! He is one of the most colorful figures in Hebrew history. More isknown about his personality and character than any other OT prophet. Jeremiah was the son of Hilkiah, the priest, from Anathoth in the land of Benjamin. He heard the call on his life when he was between jut 14-20. Jeremiah, a man of prayer, prophesied for up to 40 years when he died in Egypt about 2 years after the fall of Jerusalem to the Chaldeans in 586 BC. He was known as the "weeping prophet". He is also known as the prophet of the last hour before the destruction of Judah. He preached the coming judgment and counseled Judah to repen and submit to Babylon to remain in the land of Judah. He had such a compassion for his people that it moved him to tears. Being very young when called to the prophetic office, he endeavored to excuse himself on account of his youth and incapacity for the work; but, being overruled by the Divine authority, he undertook the task, and performed it with matchless zeal and fidelity in the midst of a most crooked and perverse people, by whom he was continually persecuted, and whom he boldly reproved, often at the hazard of his life. During his life as a prophet he was threatened, tried for his life, put in stocks, forced to flee from Jehoiakim, publicly humiliated by a false prophet and thrown into a pit.
