701 | Why do some pastors disobey Jesus? | Matt 19:9 | CDBJ | 19091
Are you inferring the Jesus actually commanded them to divorce for this reason? I think that what He was saying was that (if) a person where to pursue a divorce, and then marries another, the reason mentioned would be the only reason that would be acceptable with Him; other then this reason the person who remarries would be committing adultery. Jesus did not command them to divorce. CDBJ
702 | this is as short as i can make it. | Matt 19:9 | CDBJ | 185302
Hi Taby815, Go easy with the use of higher case letters when you post, it make it awful hard to read. Now to your question: “WE ARE FORGIVEN BY GOD AREN'T WE?” You are the only one that can really answer your own question in that department but I’ll pose as one of those coy aggravating types that answers a question with a question, and then when you respond I’ll try an fill in the missing blanks, OK? Try this one: why should God forgive you? I'll try to bring the next verse into the picture. 2 Tim. 2:24-26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. 703 | short enough | Matt 19:9 | CDBJ | 185305
Greetings Taby, That’s great and it’s always nice to hear when people are active engaged in church activity. Now in your latest post you claim that God did forgive you because he loves us. What is it that could have caused God to just forgive your of your sin’s since the righteousness in God’s character must punish sin. God in short it says so right here Romans 6:23 (A) For the wages of sin is death. Do you assume that your faithful serving has any part in your being forgiven and are you now a qualified member fit to be ushered into God’s presence if you should, shall we say, drop over dead in the next ten minutes. I’m not trying to detract from anything you have done I’m trying to get to the crux of the mater. And explain what the Bible says. Just how good, as it were, do we have it be in order to insure a residence in heaven? CDBJ |

704 | Will Judas be on one of the thrones? | Matt 19:28 | CDBJ | 16230
Judas did not follow in the regeneration. i.e. He was not born again. Scripture say he went to his place. They drew lots to see who would fill his spot but the Lord, as the Bible shows, chose Paul to fill in his office as one of the 12. Acts 1:15-26 (Mark 14:21) doesn't show the future of Judas as being on a throne! I hope this helps. CDBJ
705 | Is Paul the 12th apostle, by the Bible? | Matt 19:28 | CDBJ | 16341
Your question is where is Paul called the 12th apostle in the Bible. As to hanging a particular number on him, it doesn't. As far as being an apostle it would appear that he was number one by the results. Rom. 1:1-- I Cor. 1:1-- as in all the books that Paul wrote. For my money, I even think that he wrote Hebrews, but there again it not a black and white issue. I would say that the proof is in the pudding, as it were. I was just putting in my two cents worth. 706 | Who turned the tables? A prophet or God? | Matt 21:12 | CDBJ | 71973
The original in the Koine Greek actually has a pronoun in it. Matthew 21:12 KJV And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, Matthew 21:12 from Koine And entering Jesus into the temple and threw out all the ones selling and buying in the temple and the tables of the money-changers He overturned and the chairs of the ones selling the doves. He overturned --- verb: indicative, aorist, active, 3rd person, singular from the word KATESTREPSEN Verb -- showing action Indicative mood -- Is the mood of reality or certainty Aorist tense – Action occurring in a point of time. Active voice – The subject produces the action Third person singular – he, she or it As a casual observer I would say you are right. But Tim could spell it out better if he is on line. CDBJ |

707 | what does the Bible say about suicide? | Matt 22:37 | CDBJ | 209592
Greetings and welcome to the forum, The act of suicide is a violent act of one superimposing their will over and above the will of a loving God. The moment that the Lord is through with his saints on this Earth He is fully capable of taking them home to be with Himself, but as long as we, as believers are still residing on this miserable Earth be assured that God has a plan for them. But if one chooses to eliminate themselves form God’s plan for their life that means they will miss out on the blessings that He had planed for them in time as well as in eternity, i.e. being a faithful servant. There are no problems that the Lord can’t handle if one is willing to trust in the Lord’s provision. Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Philip. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. It is a tough thing to go against difficulties in this life but it is worst to carry them into the next life and miss out on the blessing that could have been theirs for eternity. Christ fought temptation with Bible doctrine, one needs to claim God’s sure promises and be a winner believer. Ephes. 3:20-21 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. CDBJ |

708 | how do I identify false teachers | Matt 23:1 | CDBJ | 127998
Greetings and wecome to the forum, For one to be able to spot false teachings and or false teachers there is a good lesson that we can learn from the U.S. treasury department. There are millions of different counterfeit bills in circulation and it would be impossible to study all of them, so every one who is engaged in finding bogus bills is given extensive training in recognizing the real thing. Strong suggestion! Study, study, study, the Bible, especially the New Testament, with God’s help and you will spot imitations when they come along. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Psalm 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. The first and most essential thing to have before any Bible study is to have had a personal experience with the Lord Jesus Christ in order to perceive what one is studying. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. The word “see”, in John 3:3, comes from the Koine Greek word, EIDO, and carries the connotation of understanding. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. Jesus was speaking here, John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. 711 | see to let you know the end is near ? | Matt 24:6 | CDBJ | 165749
Greetings, For starters, forget the end of the world stuff, that’s a bad translation to say the least! Matthew 24:3 (KJV) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? Don’t hit the panic button, the word world, in the English, is translated from the Greek word AION and should read age or an epic of time. Matthew 24:3 (NASB) And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" The people in Thessalonica where getting all bent out of shape with regards to the events that they were seeing and Paul assured them of the following facts. 2 Thes. 1:7-10 (KJV) And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, [8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: [9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; [10] When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Paul expounds on this in the following verses so that they could be comforted. 2 Thes. 2:1-14 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to Him, [2] that you may not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. In todays English it could read, don't get all bent out of shape and don't be fooled. [3] Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, [4] who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. [5] Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? [6] And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he may be revealed. [7] For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. [8] And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; [9] that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, [10] and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. [11] And for this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they might believe what is false, [12] in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. [13] But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. [14] And it was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. I would say that the biggest question is, have you had faith in the truth yet, that is, the truth that Paul has is referring to? In other words, do you know for a fact, that if you were to leave this life today that would you be ushered into the presents of God in heaven with no questions asked?? Have a great day, CDBJ |

712 | faith in the truth | Matt 24:6 | CDBJ | 165757
Hi Shythiyl, The answer to your frustration is found in the application of several pertinent Scriptures. You have definitely taken on a job that isn’t yours in the first place, I know, I’ve been down that road. You’re assuming the following, which is like trying to blow out a house fire during a hurricane. You stated; “How can I convince anyone” Jesus told us who was going to do the convicting or the convincing. Our job is to just keep cranking out the Word, it’s the Holy Spirits work or job to convict those that we give the word to. (Been there tried that!) John 16:7-8 "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. [8] "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment; The “He” in the previous verse is your answer. Do you remember why Jesus called Peter blessed? Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, Why was Peter Blessed? because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. Reveal what to him? The facts about the person and the work of Jesus, God’s anointed one, or the one who would pay for our salvation. God does the work we just keep giving out the Word. Sin isn’t the issue Jesus is the issue, because Jesus has already paid for our sins in total! 1 John 2:2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. This isn’t diminishing consequences of our sin by any means but actually lifting up the “solution”, Jesus. Someone’s sins won’t condemn them; it’s their lack of faith or trust in God’s perfect solution that condemns them. That perfect solution is God’s on unique Son Jesus, the Messiah. John 20:30-31 Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; [31] but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. If you a giving out the Word, in the form of the Gospel that’s all that we can do. 1 Cor. 2:1-2 And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. [2] For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. It’s hard to have faith in anything that a person knows nothing about. Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Have a great day, CDBJ |

713 | A question of logic in timing | Matt 24:15 | CDBJ | 117898
Hi Emmy, The logic you are asking for is imposable since your question is too confusing. You suggested as your question. “The rapture happens after the first resurrection.” The rapture and the resurrection are the exact same thing; your question is rather nebulous and abstruse! For starters the word rapture is a word that believers have coined for the resurrection and it isn’t found in any modern accepted translation of the Bible. The wording in Paul’s letter is where we draw the idea of the rapture or catching away. 1 Thes. 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. The word caught up together come to us from the Koine Greek; it is the word HARPAGESMETHA, in means a quick amputation, or snatching away. There are only two resurrections mentioned in Scripture; Christ is the first fruit of the first resurrection. 1 Cor. 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. The word order in the preceding verse is from the Greek word TAGMA, and it carries the connotation of a division of troops with A company B company and so on, Christ being A company and we are to follow. The second resurrection is for the unbelievers and it mentioned in Rev. 20:5-6 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Every one involved from Christ up until Rev 20:6 is in the first resurrection. Please rephrase your question in smaller sections and maybe we could provide you with a better more precise answer. Have a great day CDBJ |

714 | Why did Jesus say "never again?" | Matt 24:21 | CDBJ | 78687
Greetings Taleb, Your post suggests something that isn’t going to happen the way I see it. “IF the great tribulation is yet to come right before the end of the world” The world isn’t ever going to end. Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this. Luke 1:33 and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. The Earth won’t be as we know it today but it is still going to be here after the Lord does a restoration job on it. CDBJ |

715 | follow-up on the signs | Matt 24:29 | CDBJ | 60841
Technically speaking the great tribulation mentioned by Jesus in Matt. will last less then three an a half years. Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. The total seven years referred to as Jacobs trouble starts with Israel making a covenant with the one we call the antichrist, Dan. 9:27. This is the beginning of sorrow for the first part or 3 ½ years. Matthew 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. The great tribulation doesn’t start until the one that Israel makes the covenant with actually reveals who he is; this doesn’t happen until after three and a half years into the covenant. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 2 Thes. 2:3-9 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? [6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. [7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. [8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, This is the beginning of the great tribulation and it is cut short by the Lord for the elect’s sake. Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. You can see that the great tribulation is cut short for the elect’s sake yet the time of Israel’s trouble will continue until they full period of 7 years is finished. This is also referred to as the time of vengeance or wrath. Rev. 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. The short time mentioned in Rev. 12:12 is 3 ½ years or the last half of the seven years. |

717 | The sin of smoking cigarettes. | Matt 25:33 | CDBJ | 226279
Smoking is in violation of the following and it’s the verse that caused me to quit smoking over 40 some years ago. 1 Cor. 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Smoking had me in it’s power because I couldn’t quit, I was addicted! I knew that smoking was going to kill me but I just didn’t have the power to quit, that is until I trusted Jesus for my salvation then I had the power to overcome the temptation. Every time I would get the desire to light up I would just pray until the desire went away. It took months but the Lord helped me do it and I got a lot of praying done! I had a Christian brother tell me one time, “smoking won’t send anyone to hell”, of course he was a smoker, and I said he was right but I told him that it made him smell like he had already been there! John tells us the thing that will send a person to hell. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Knowing the dangers of smoking now days is about as close as one can get to committing suicide, which brings another verse into play. Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. One can’t sow to his fleshly desires and then pray for a crop failure. If a person comes down with lung cancer from smoking it’s a violation of Gal. 6:7 to pray for healing; I know this is harsh but it's what God’s Word says! CDBJ |

718 | Who are "the least of these?" | Matt 25:40 | CDBJ | 219361
Greetings, One must keep the verses in context. Matthew 25:31-33 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. The sheep are true believers and the goats represent unbelievers, who think they will be accepted “due to their own personal works” apart from believing in Christ, i.e. grace function. The sheep responded out of love because of who they are, i.e. the children of God; they are functioning out of the filling of the Spirit in the true function of “AGAPE” love for those who were in need so it wasn’t necessary for them to be hypocrites as the goats were; they didn’t care who it was that was in need they just knew that they needed help!
