583 | The earth divided in Peleg's time? | Gen 10:25 | CDBJ | 190197
Greetings 00123, This might be the answer to your question from the, (The Bible Background Commentary)? Gen. 10:25. dividing of the earth. While this has traditionally been taken to refer to the division of the nations after the Tower of Babel incident (Genesis 11:1-9), other possibilities exist. It could, for instance, refer to a division of human communities into sedentary farmers and pastoral nomads; or, possibly a migration of peoples is documented here that drastically transformed the culture of the ancient Near East—perhaps one represented in a break-off group traveling southeast in Genesis 11:2. 585 | Lot righteous? | Gen 19:8 | CDBJ | 186326
Greetings jholler and welcome to the forum. I suppose the first thing to be considered, in order to answer your question, would be your rendition of what it means to be righteous since the Bible doesn’t make any mistakes. 2 Tim. 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; There may be more to the question about Lot then what meet the eye. Bringing it a little closer to home or ,shall I say, more up to date, what in your estimation would cause a person to be considerer righteous by God now days; then we can get back to Lot? 586 | Ho do we know that it was the angel.... | Gen 32:1 | CDBJ | 198405
Greetings Rachellynn, You made the statement; I came to the conclusion that you wrote above, but how do I convince someone else of that? For starters, the post that you are referring to is over five years old. Secondly, the Bible doesn’t need defending, as it were. It’s the work of the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of God’s Word to individuals. John 6:45 (A) It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught by God. John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. Trying to defend a weapon doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when you stop and think about it! If you are attacked by someone that is trying to kill you and your holding a 44magnum you don’t stand there and explain the fundamentals of a 240 grain projectile moving out at over 1500 fps, the best advice is to just keep pulling the trigger until they stop. Ephes. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; One of the biggest problems nowadays is that people don’t know how to handle a 44 magnum or you could say they aren’t very proficient as swordsmen. As unbelievers the only thing they can understand is the gospel message of Christ. As believers we understand that all of God’s Word is Truth and we stand in judgment of it, it never stands in judgment of us. I sure hope you get my drift on this, CDBJ |

587 | Faith | Gen 32:10 | CDBJ | 178727
Hi Mae68, The word faith as used in the English language is what is known as a "transitive verb", it takes an object for it to function properly. There is "no merit", as it were, on the behalf of the subject producing the faith; all of the credit goes to the object. The word used in the original language of the Koine Greek, was the word (PISTIS) or different forms of the same root word such as (PISTEUO), which is translated in the book of John in the English as (believe). The word faith and believe as stated in the Bible, to simplify matters, points to the object which God intends us to trust in, or rely on, or have hope in; and that object is God’s only provision for mankind, Jesus Christ, God’s, unique, precious Son. The sum of eternal life, with God, rest within the person and work of God’s Son, and what He did for us on the cross! John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. By believing emphatically on what Jesus did, “all” that is necessary for eternal life, is trusting in Christ, or having faith in Him; God promises that he will give us eternal life as a gift when we believe or have faith in Jesus. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. There is a “promise” in the Bible, that I cherish, and it points out faith and believing, in Jesus as the object. 1 John 5:10-13 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. [11] And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. [12] He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. [13] These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. There is a false idea in the world that we are all the children of God but the Bible says that only those that believe in the Son, Jesus, are God’s children. John 1:11-12 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. [12] But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: Have a great day, and ask God to reveal His son to you as you study His Word, the Bible. 592 | Abortion for medical reason ??????? | Ex 20:13 | CDBJ | 39764
There is a verse that you should consider which makes a lot of sense in your situation and that is to follow the sound mind principal. 2 Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. The Lord has blessed this nation with the best medical profession in the world. I think it would be wise and of sound mind to do as they suggest. I would thank the Lord for their advice and the fact that is so obvious a situation. This is my opinion and I wouldn't even think twice about it if it were my wife! I pry that the Lord will give you the same assurance in this situation. Much love in the Lord, CDBJ |

There is a verse in Timothy that I think you should consider. 2 Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. The lord has so richly blessed America with an abundance of great doctors more so then any other country in the World. Don't let your emotions dictate in making a bad decision. It would be a good time to use the sound mind approach to your problem or you might end up a looser all the way around. Do a lot of praying of which I am sure that you have. |

594 | When is abortion right? | Ex 21:23 | CDBJ | 74690
Hello polarbeardog 2, now there is a real handle, how did you arrive at that for a name? I think the answer to your question would be easer to resolve if it where clearly established when a human being actually received the human soul, clearly separating biological from soul life. I have wrestled with the same thought that you have; most on the forum will jump to an answer more out of a conditioned response then from a clear explanation of why. Adam didn’t become a living soul until he was breathing on his own. He received this breath through his nostrils. Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. He had the format of the soul but the word breath (neshamah) was actually the spark of soul life. This will probable raise some hackles, CDBJ |

595 | What is the book of Revelation 5:1? | Ex 32:15 | CDBJ | 96787
Rev. 5:1 is talking about a scroll; the word translated book, comes to us from the Koine Greek word “biblos”, which is why we call our book of God Word the Bible. One of the largest collections of ancient scrolls in the world was donated to a thyme park in Orlando Florida that describes the Holy Land. It is interesting to note that all of the seals on ancient scrolls are on the outside of the scroll and must all be broken one at a time before any of the contents of the scroll are revealed. It was usually a type of wax that had the impression from a signet ring from a very high authority, such as a King. To break a seal with out the proper permission brought the punishment of death to the violator. It is not as though the scroll is unrolled a little and then there is another seal on it, and so on. The actual contents of the book, or scroll, aren’t visible until after the seventh seal is broken in Rev. 8:1 and then God begins His destruction of the Earth with fire. The first time God destroyed the Earth was with water, the second time he will do it with fire. The of contents of the scroll in Rev. 5:1 is the wrath of God on the Earth and is not mentioned until chapter 8, everything else, the seven seals, leads up to His wrath and must transpire first. This is the way I see it. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings apostolicguy and welcome to the forum. Technically speaking, the only one I can think of would be a bat which isn’t really a bird but it’s a mammal that flies and found at the bottom of the list. Birds aren’t mammals and visa versa but you might be looking for the list of, Leviticus 11:13-19 (NASB) And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, [14] And the vulture, and the kite after his kind; [15] Every raven after his kind; [16] And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind, [17] And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl, [18] And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, [19] And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. 598 | Should we bias our religious studies? | Lev 18:22 | CDBJ | 60665
What you are saying might hold true with other studies but when it comes to the study of the Bible there is a different concept that the Bible conveys. The problem being that seeing, is not believing, but believing, which is PISTIS or faith in the original Greek, is seeing. It is impossible to know the real truth that the the Bible teaches with out faith! The Bible is a supernatural book, that the natural man can’t understand. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Christianity per se, is not a religion but a relationship. Religion is man by man's best efforts trying to gain the approbation of God. Christianity on the other hand is God doing all the work and man can only receive what God has done for him as a gift; it is non meritorious, we can’t work for it and we sure don’t deserve it, but God demands that we believe it or He will not reveal the truth that is contained within His precious word, namely the facts about his Son. Matthew 16:16-17 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Sad to say not all are in the family of God, one must be born into God’s family before they can perceive God’s kingdom. Once a person becomes a child of God the Bible literally comes alive with meaning and understanding. This is not my personal opinion but has been my personal experience alone with thousands of others. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. I hope this helps, CDBJ |
