Bible Question: What is the book of Revelation 5:1? |
Bible Answer: Rev. 5:1 is talking about a scroll; the word translated book, comes to us from the Koine Greek word “biblos”, which is why we call our book of God Word the Bible. One of the largest collections of ancient scrolls in the world was donated to a thyme park in Orlando Florida that describes the Holy Land. It is interesting to note that all of the seals on ancient scrolls are on the outside of the scroll and must all be broken one at a time before any of the contents of the scroll are revealed. It was usually a type of wax that had the impression from a signet ring from a very high authority, such as a King. To break a seal with out the proper permission brought the punishment of death to the violator. It is not as though the scroll is unrolled a little and then there is another seal on it, and so on. The actual contents of the book, or scroll, aren’t visible until after the seventh seal is broken in Rev. 8:1 and then God begins His destruction of the Earth with fire. The first time God destroyed the Earth was with water, the second time he will do it with fire. The of contents of the scroll in Rev. 5:1 is the wrath of God on the Earth and is not mentioned until chapter 8, everything else, the seven seals, leads up to His wrath and must transpire first. This is the way I see it. Have a great day, CDBJ |
