521 | fate of Barabbas | NT general | CDBJ | 200903
Hi Nightman, Here is an interesting bit of information. My Name isn’t Barabbas, but Jesus actually took my place and hung between heaven and earth and took the wrath of God the Father so that I could spend eternal life with God. God did a fantastic thing for me the day Jesus died on that cross; I deserve to be separated from God for ever! Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God can’t die, so God came up with the plan that the Word of God would personally become a human being so that God, being the perfect man “without sin” could pay the ultimate price for my sin. Acts 20:28 (B) to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. A man can’t become God but God took on human flesh and paid the debt that I owe for my sins. God tells us that if we will trust in the work that He did in the person of Jesus, the appointed one, that God will give us everlasting life with Himself as a gift that He bought. But we "must" put “all” of our faith and confident expectation in the person of Jesus Christ. Philip. 2:5-8 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 522 | who are the144000 | NT general | CDBJ | 201778
Greetings and welcome to the forum. The following is a excerpt from the free web site, www.revelationcommentary.org Chapter 7 One hundred and forty-four thousand this number has received great consideration. Speculations abound. It is sad that commentators do not take this number literally. To denominate the number by 12, 000 adds to the literal nature of this figure. We are not told why 12, 000 are chosen, but that twelve thousand are chosen is clear. There is no textual basis to support those who claim that the 144, 000 are any entity other than physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. To spiritualize the 144, 000 into a Christian group violates the plain sense of the text. John gives the reader every detail necessary to correctly identify this group. The critical phrase "from every tribe of the sons of Israel" should settle any debate about their identity. This phrase always refers to physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Out of six hundred and thirty-five occurrences of this phrase throughout the Scriptures, Revelation 7:4 would be the only exception. There is no compelling reason to spiritualize away the literal sense. Every tribe of the sons of Israel has solid biblical support as a referent of Jews only. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

523 | God love the senner but hate the sin | NT general | CDBJ | 202696
Greetings and welcome to the forum. I know this may seem a little harsh but one of those two must be wrong; either your son is being deceived or God is mistaken, so which one do you think is wrong? It’s rather obvious if one believes what God says in the Bible. 1 John 2:16-17 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Greetings, Your sins aren’t the issue in God’s eyes His precious Son paid the price that God demanded. The issue now is what will one do with the person of Jesus the Christ. The sin that can condemn someone to an everlasting place of torment now is the rejection of, or lack of faith, in what God has done for mankind on the cross. Jesus speaks about the Holy Spirit and his ministry. John 16:8-9 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; The future of one’s eternal state is known right now while they are still on this side of eternity. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. This is further backed up by the following. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. If someone doesn’t know for sure that they have eternal life it’s because they aren’t fully trusting in what Jesus did for them on the cross. When a person has saving faith in Christ the Holy Spirit reveals this truth to them as they study God’s Word, the Bible. 1 John 5:13 NLT I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. 526 | Why did they oppose Jesus and how? | NT general | CDBJ | 213055
Greetings and welcome to the forum. The basic problem was then, and still is today, is the fact of who Jesus Christ was and what He did. The answer to that question is the difference between an individual spending eternal life with God or suffering eternal punishment in the lake of fire forever. John 20:30-31 Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. 1 John 5:10-13 The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness that God has borne concerning His Son. 11And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life. John 3:17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. I sure hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

528 | lest the cross of Christ be made of no | NT general | CDBJ | 213987
Greetings, 1 Cor. 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. Paul in this verse wants to instill upon those hearing the message of the gospel that God’s salvation resides in what God did for the lost in the person of His Son Jesus the Christ on the cross. He wanted it to be known that God did the work and not have one be convinced because he was an aliquant speaker who convinced them of something that they really didn’t have. It's not because Paul said it, it’s because God actually did it and we are to believe, or rely on, the fact that our redemption is assured by the work that was finished on the cross. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (Bible Knowledge Commentary) Paul’s primary charge was to preach the gospel (9:16) not with words of human wisdom. Brilliantly persuasive eloquence may win a person’s mind but not his heart, whereas the unadorned words of the gospel, though seemingly foolish by human standards, are made effective by the Spirit of God (2:4-5). 529 | Giving it up to the Lord | NT general | CDBJ | 214545
Greetings, The more promises you can claim from God’s Word the better off you will be. This takes a lot of study and perseverance but the Lord is able. Look at the mess that Abraham started when he tried to accomplish what the Lord promised that He would do with regards to giving him a son! The Lord does things in His own good time, turn it over to the court of heaven and let the Lord do His work. Ephes. 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Ephes. 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. CDBJ |

Greetings, The verse you have stated is for all believers. God has no less love for the slightest person who believes in Jesus as their own personal Saviour. John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. God is no respecter of persons. Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: CDBJ |

531 | Life in the power of the tounge. | NT general | CDBJ | 214995
Greetings and welcome to the forum. There are many verses contained in Scripture that fall into the category of what we call, in the English, parenthetical which boils down to thing in addition that don’t actually necessitate action on the part of the one in question which answers your question. Case and point: The entire book of John was written to convey a specific point. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. The sum total of John’s gospel revolves around the word believe, which in the Koine Greek of the New Testament is the word, PISTEUO and just who Jesus is as the focal point. Of the four gospels that we have in the Bible, John expounds on the meaning of faith more then all the rest, close to 98 times, yet the word faith isn’t mentioned; he chose rather instead to use the word believe. The word faith and or believe is a transitive verb, which places the emphasis on the object not the subject. The key to salvation is not in the one doing the believing but the integrity of the object believed on which must be “Jesus” the very Son of God Himself. Believing is not doing something, but how one thinks. What one does after believing comes about as a result of having faith in God’s Son, Jesus the Christ; the works are forthcoming as an act of God in one’s life. Ephes. 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Many see salvation as putting the cart before the horse, i.e. works for salvation, and according to God’s protocol that just does not work. God did “all” the work and He gets all the credit all we can do is thank Him for the fantastic gift of eternal life that resides in His Son Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 John 5:11-13 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Greetings, You might find this helpful. Luke 24:13-35 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. 14And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 17And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? 19And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: 20And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. 21But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. 22Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. 24And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. 25Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. 28And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. 29But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. 30And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. 31And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. 32And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? 33And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, 34Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. 35And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread. 1 Cor. 15:1-8 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. 537 | Scripture on God raised Jesus from dead | NT general | CDBJ | 219156
Greetings with more of the same, John 20:26-31 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27Then saith he to Thomas, reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. 30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Acts 9:1-9 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. 7And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. 8And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. 9And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. 538 | Question about Acts 2:38? | NT general | CDBJ | 219169
Greetings and welcome to the forum, Acts 2:38 trips up many folks, until they learn how to break down the verse. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The key to this verse is in the Koine Greek of the New Testament with regards to the word REPENT i.e. METANOEO in the Greek. This is a compound word META and NOEO. Meta means to change and noeo is a derived of the word for mind or intellect. It means to have a change of mind about the person of Jesus Christ and put all of one’s faith in Him. This in essence is to believe the truth of the gospel message of God’s Son. When this is done, that individual is automatically sealed with the person of the Holy Spirit. Ephes. 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. The second confusing part of that verse is that some think that their sins are washed away by baptism because, (A) this deals with water and, (B) water gives the connotation of washing. The fact of the matter is the cleansing comes about because of the precious name of Jesus, God’s Son. Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Trusting in Jesus and calling out to God the Father in Jesus name: this is what removes the sin problem. I John 2:2 Jesus and the work He did is what satisfies the righteousness of God on our behalf, not the fact that we get baptized. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

Greetings and welcome to the forum, As “I assume you know” this is a Bible forum. With respect to your question, how can you affirm what you are accusing others of as being true by using the Bible? The first thing we need to admit before anyone can have a relationship with God is the fact that He is right concerning us. He isn’t impressed with what and who we are, what He wants us to know is that we can have a personal relationship with Him but it must be under His terms not ours. Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. If you are truly interested in having a true relationship with the Living knowable God the first thing you need to understand is the way God has provided for this relationship and believe what He tells you! This must be the starting point. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Have a great day, CDBJ |
