Bible Note: Greetings Joshua! Thank you for the response my friend! :-) I would say that ultimately we are talking about God's Law, but we can also include man's law as well. I believe that there is a great distinction between killing and murder. If someone breaks into my home at night and attempts to kill my family, and I kill him in self-defense, that is lawful and does not fit the definition of murder at all. However, if I simply go out into the street and 'kill' someone because they took my parking space, then it is 'murder' and is not lawful. God allows 'killing' in self-defense. He allows 'killing' in war. He even commands 'killing' in the case of capital crimes.
