Bible Question: How can an evil spirit come from the Lord? |
Bible Answer: "16:14 departed. The presence of the Holy Spirit in the OT was selective and temporary, whereas today it is universal and permanent among believers. See note on Judg. 3:10. The evil spirit was used by God as the instrument of judgment on Saul, resulting in a mental disturbance bordering on madness. 16:23 the evil spirit from God. God’s total control permitted this (also v. 14). Music temporarily relieved Saul’s distress." The Ryrie Expanded Edition NASB Study Bible |
