Bible Question:
When I read the word "prophesying" in 1 Samuel 10, and also in Ch.19, I get the feeling it indicates something quite different from the usual meaning. One could easily replace it by "singing", for example, in a sentence like this: "But when they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader," Does anyone know of some discussion on this, e.g. on the basis of the Hebrew word for "prophesy"? |
Bible Answer: Naba (a verb) is the root word and means to prophesy ... In 1 Samuel we see the word (10:5, 6, 10, 11; 18:10, 19:20, 21, 23, 24).
