Bible Question: I have read the book of Ruth a couple of times now and personally cannot quite understand the significance of the story other than it being the beginning of the lineage of Jesus. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
Bible Answer: I would venture to say that another important aspect of the Book of Ruth was her faith. Ruth was considered a foreigner (Maobite). Her people worshiped other gods. Yet, Ruth imparts some of the most beautiful words I have ever heard in verses 16-18. Ruth will go no matter what, even unto death. As you read on you see that God found favor with Ruth and she met and married Boaz. Yes, the lineage of Jesus stems from Ruth, but there is also a great display of faith by Ruth to a God which was unknown to her people, the Moabites. |
