Bible Answer: Greetings, Matthew, Mark, and Luke are called the Synoptic Gospels because their content mirrors each other. Now, Matthew was an eyewitness to most of the events he speaks about. Mark was a pupil of Peter, as well as cousin to Barnabas, and a travelling companion to Paul. So he would have had ample access to information. Dr. Luke states at the start of his gospel that he investigated everything from the beginning, and that his sources were eyewitnesses. As a result, it's easy to see why they would be similar if they used similar sources. Jalek |
