Subject: Debating on the word with atheist |
Bible Note: Hi, Sapian59... Welcome to the forum! One must also use wisdom in deciding when it is appropriate and with whom it is appropriate to enter into "debate." From the Scriptures we understand that not everyone deserves -- or even wants -- an answer. Christ speaks of dogs (heretics/apostates) and pigs (sensual) people in Matthew 7:6. He tells us that these are people who shouldn't be given that which is holy. Remember that dogs and pigs don't point out issues with our faith because they lack information. On the contrary, their fundamental problem is a moral one (Romans 1:21-22). Furthermore, keep in mind that their conversion will not take place because we give them the correct information or refute their specious arguments -- that only makes for better informed dogs and better thinking pigs! The Lord must accomplish their salvation (Romans 11:29). In Him, Doc |
