Bible Question: Hi, yesterday one friend of mine asked me how could the Psalm 2:12 say that God's Son easily gets angry with their enimies if also the Bible states that God is slow to anger? (Naum 1:2, 3; compare isso com Ex 20:5; 34:6, 7)How could I find harmony between those two thouths? |
Bible Answer: Hi, DUDUTJ... You will understand, first of all, that the Bible uses anthropomorphism in order to allow us to understand God (see post #128206). He is not capricious nor is He subject to swings of mood. When He is provoked, it is because that is the perfect response. When He is patient, it is because that is the perfect response. Even a human being can be easily provoked in one context, while patient in another. Christ Himself was compassionate in some contexts, while growing angry in others. Considering the complexity of creation, we should not be surprised to discover that our God is not simple. Who wants a simple God anyway? In Him, Doc |
