Bible Question:
I agree with your response on all accounts. However, in your last line; here is another way to look at the tragedy that encompasses a life that is stationary in time and space, as we know it. Looking at Jesus' words in John 9:3 Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him". Although this passage is specifically dealing with "who to blame for such a tragedy", the principle of God's will and work in every person is something that can't be denied. I agree with you that having a heart to be active in life for the glory of God is a pursuit all Lovers of our Lord would desire. We must never forget that God can use all circumstances and situations for his Glory for those who turn to Him with honest hearts. Romans 8:28 is used by many, focusing on the words "all thing". In my previous state, "coma", I just laid there. I have no memories of the accident nor almost 4 weeks after. When I woke up, I did not remember my wife of 33 years nor my children. Yet the testimonies of those around me during that time, lead me to believe that God used this body, that situation and the miraculous events over that time(you had to be there) to accomplish His will/work, for His Glory, in the lives of those that were affected, including the medical staff. I praise Him that I was available for service to His work without any conscience thought or movement on my part. I have made it known that my family can authorize any medical requirements deemed necessary until humanly hope is exhausted. When life support is only sucking the finances that burden the family, then my wish is to allow them peace of mind in letting go "and letting God". As I stated to Doc I look forward to your insight as I appreciate your compassionate replies to other questions. I thank you for your response here. May God Keep you Manny |
Bible Answer: I agree God can be using us even when we are totally unaware of it and even when we are in a coma. But I did include a caveat in both situations I stipulated for the person in first example there was a reasonable expectation of the recovery. Likewise in the second situation all reasonable expectations were exhausted and medically there was no valid hope for any sort of recovery. While life is very precious I think we often forget that we all are going to die. That this is not our home and that we are just aliens passing through. This is clearly seen in Hebrews 11:13-16 (NLT) … They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own... But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. |
