Bible Question: Hank Hannoggraff (the bible answer-man) has stated that the rapture of the church, the way it has been presented for centuries, has no biblical back up;it's that so? I don't want to align with the wrong interpretation of the bible on either side. |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, PMaster1955, and welcome to the SBF, I am currently studying and teaching Revelation. As part of the study I presented the study of the rapture views. While the word rapture is not in the Bible, "being caught up" (1Th 4:17) is used. The "dead in Christ" and "we who are alive and remain" will be caught up in the clouds to meet "the Lord". The rapture is described in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:50-54. There is some thought that the church panicked, when they heard a rumor that the day of the Lord was at hand, and they had missed the rapture. For each rapture view, I presented the following to each view: Description Examples of Interpreting Passages Strengths Weaknesses Origin of the View Current Standing Schools of Thought The bottom line, it is all a guess.
