Bible Question:  I am so confused!? I am new to all of this and have been going to church for about 8 months now.
Not knowing much in the Bible, going to church, at first, was a real eye opener , and made me eager to read God's word for myself. Now that I am devoted in prayer and Bible reading/studying , the more I learn , the more I wonder if this church is right for me???
I am not judging those in the church nor am I judging the pastor, I'm just not sure I believe the way they do.
We are taught that the Law of Moses is abolished, that Christ at Calvary ended the "old" law , but then we are taught to abide by all 10 commandments...even though we are then taught that there is no Sabbath day anymore. And if the Law of Moses is abolished , why are we taught to TITHE?
I am a full believer in GIVING. I definetly think that the Lord has blessed us , and we need to be thankful. But when it is stressed SO much that the old law does not pertain to us, then we get a sermon about how we are robbing God, because some in the church do not give 10percent and follow all the commandments, just NOT THE SABBATH???
I am just confused? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bible Answer:  Dear confused if you are looking for spiritual growth as a member of a body it is something you need to be in prayer about listening an watching for the holy spirit to lead you. Now as this may some difficult to you depending on the church you attend. You need to know that all churches are not designed for spiritual growth and do not lead a new member to grow in the walk of the. holy spirit. These churches are designed to bring people to salvation which is a very important first step. Others are desighed to grow christians to a deeper walk with christ. No none of this is listed in the scripture and I am not telling you this to lead you away from where you are. But it is important to know that there is a defference in churches. What is listed is that some are called to preach, evangalize, teach and as prophets. Churches should have all of these qualities but it is rare to find. So all that said Pray and ask god to give the guidance to lead by the spirit to grow in your walk with christ. He will lead you. Christ said as anything in my name and my father will give it to you. Also tithing is from the old testment and was to support the priesthood which required 10precent . In the new testment The is no such thing as tithing as it is not decribed in any scripture. What is called for is giving to the poor and needy. Also the scripture state: Give and it will be given unto you. So that said it is giving from your heart so the work of christ can be accomplished. you Also will find God promises to Us are fact. He watches over his word to make sure it is accomplished. Also the robbing god thing is kind of sad that someone uses that to pressure belivers into giving. As Give should always come for the heart and not out of obligation. God has given you everything you have and only requires you to act accordingly with what he has provided us. The law that is talked about that was abolished is the law of sin and death. After excepting christ you are giving direct access to the father to ask for forgiveness of sin. What you have not be told is that you will battle with sin as you have a flesh of sin that need to be dealt with. That is where gods word come in as we pray and uses his word we continually put to death the members of our flesh. This is the journy to have a closer walk with christ as we become more like him. He is there to help you in this process that is why the price was paid for you. as you grow stronger in the word you will be able to walk away for sin. I hope in some small way I have help you in your quest for answers.
Your brother in Christ
Fred
